I walk down the stairs in my outfit for the premiere. I'm still not overly keen on the red but I guess I'll have to live with it. A lady from the recording studio came over to do my hair and makeup. More red from the lipstick.
"Hey," Lucas grins at me. He's wearing a suit with a tie.
"Hello, Mr Knight," I chuckle and Lucas grins.
"Whatever, let's get in the limo. We're picking Uplift up on the way," Lucas states before we walk out and get into the limo.
"What film were you in this time?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"Some random film," Lucas replies.
When we arrive, my chest tightens as I look around.
"Don't worry, someone will always be with you, whether it's me or an Uplift member," Lucas smiles, holding out his hand which I take. We step out the limo and cameras immediately flash. I blink several times before Lucas guides me away.
"Are you alright?" Lucas asks, squeezing my hand,
"Yeah," I reply, moving so I'm closer the him. He hugs me before people take more pictures.
"Just tell me up you find it hard to breathe or anything," Lucas whispers as we stand. Uplift join us and eventually so does Tracy. Uplift are in tuxes and Tracy is in a skin coloured dress which shows her large cleavage and a lot of leg. I smile for the picture before Lucas drags me away to the actually film. We go inside and sit down. Uplift join us next to Lucas and Tracy sits next to Uplift.
The film starts and the lights go off. The music starts and we watch the film.
"Well done," I congratulate Lucas when we get back in the limo.
"Thanks, sis," Lucas smilies.
"I'm tired," I yawn, tiredly.
"Go to sleep then," Lucas states, turning around and sitting sideways on the seat. I lie in between his legs and Lucas fiddles around with my hair. Uplift and Tracy are in the limo as well and I look up at them
slightly.
"Well done in the film," I say to them before falling asleep. Lucas wraps his arms around me and I snuggle into his chest before I completely drift off.
I wake up outside, being carried through the cold night air.
"I can walk now," I state and Lucas rolls his eyes.
"You have twisted your ankle," Lucas chuckles.
"Whatever," I whisper as we go inside, Lucas still carrying me.
"We're all sleeping in the lounge, Uplift, Tracy and I. Are you staying down?" Lucas asks.
"Sure," I reply when Lucas sits down, placing me on his lap. Uplift and Tracy come in then and sit on the sofas.
"What are the sleeping arrangements then?" Tracy asks.
"I'm sleeping on this sofa with Ava, Max and Alec are sleeping on that sofa, River and Tyler are sleeping on that sofa and Tracy, you can sleep on the recliner chair there," Lucas suggests.
"Okay," Tyler agrees.
"Fine by me," Tracy smiles and we all get into our sleeping positions. The boys are going head to toe you can smell their feet if your heads by their toe, Lucas and I sleep with our heads at the same side but we sleep on our sides, Lucas's arms are around waist to stop me from falling off and Tracy is lying curled up in a ball on the chair.
"Let's watch a film," Max grins.
"We've just watched one," Lucas mumbles.
"Oh yeah. But it's too quiet," Max complains.
"Put your headphones in and listen to music then," I suggest.
"Okay," Max says and he does just that.
"Love you Avery," Lucas whispers in my ear.
"I love you too, Lucas," I mumble back before I fall back to sleep.
I wake up first. I slide slowly out of Lucas's grip before going upstairs to get my pills. I take one before going back downstairs and getting a glass of water. Then I go upstairs and change into my running gear. I wear my football kit because it's easy to wear. The top is red but I have two, one for matches and one for practises. The match one is a normal long one and the practise one is more of a loose crop top. Then it's just black shorts and I mostly wear my high wasted one. I'm number thirteen and it's always been my lucky number. I quickly write a note to Lucas saying I've gone in a run before leaving the house and running down the street.
I get to town before I realise I've forgotten my inhaler. I groan as my heart race quickens and I really need it. I turn around and run back to the house, and by the time I get there, I'm basically having an asthma attack. Not a bad one, just one where I'm completely breathless and dizzy.
"Lucas!" I call and he rushes in.
"Do you have an inhaler?" I ask him quickly.
"Yeah, here," Lucas says, throwing it at me and I catch it. I take two breaths of it before going and sitting down.
"I'll get you a drink," Lucas says, getting me some water and handing it to me.
"Thanks," I reply as I start calming down.
"Why didn't you bring yours on your run?" Lucas asks.
"I forgot," I admit and he smiles slightly.
"You're a forgetful person. Remember we're going to the recording studio today," Lucas reminds me and I smile.
"I remember," I reply before going upstairs to change. I have a shower before changing into some skinny jeans and an old t shirt. I shut my door and get my guitar out, and decide to put more work into the song which I'm writing. I write songs for fun, not to do anything else with them. I have stage fright, very bad stage fright. I start playing the chords and start singing along.
'You, with your words like knives
And swords and weapons that you use against me
You have knocked me off my feet again
Got me feeling like I'm nothing
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard
Calling me out when I'm wounded
You picking on the weaker man," I start singing, playing the chords on my along to the music I wrote.
"You can take me down with just one single blow
But you don't know, what you don't know..." I sing, looking at the guitar as I sing
"Someday I'll be living in a big ol' city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so mean?" I sing, smiling slightly.
"You, with your switching sides
And your wildfire lies and your humiliation
You have pointed out my flaws again
As if I don't already see them
I walk with my head down
Trying to block you out 'cause I'll never impress you
I just wanna feel okay again," I sing, tapping my foot to the best.
"I bet you got pushed around
Somebody made you cold
But the cycle ends right now
'Cause you can't lead me down that road
And you don't know, what you don't know..." I sing, concentrating on the music.
"Someday I'll be living in a big ol' city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so mean?" I sing, my hair falling slightly in my face so move it away.
"And I can see you years from now in a bar
Talking over a football game
With that same big loud opinion
But nobody's listening
Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things
Drunk and grumbling on about how I can't sing
But all you are is mean," I sing, smiling.
"All you are is mean
And a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean," I sing, closing my eyes.
"But someday I'll be living in a big ol' city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean, yeah
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so?.." I sing, playing my guitar.
"Someday I'll be living in a big ol' city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Why you gotta be so mean?" I finish singing and I jump when I hear Lucas clapping behind me.
"It's terrible, anyway. I don't do anything like this," I state quickly.
"It's not terrible. It's amazing, why don't you show anyone?" Lucas asks, sitting next to me.
"Because they're bad," I reply, smiling.
"They're not! You could even be on the next album with me!" Lucas states, grinning.
"No," I reply.
"Why not?" He asks.
"I don't want to," I reply.
"Why?" He asks.
"I don't know," I reply.
"I'll make it so only you and I are there," Lucas pleads.
"What song would I do?" I ask.
"Show me the songs you've written," Lucas replies and I hand him a pile of sheets of music.
"You've written a lot of songs," Lucas states.
"I've had a lot of boyfriends," I reply and Lucas laughs.
"You should do this one," he says, handing me a sheet of music.
"Okay, I'll do it. As long as you're the only one there when I'm recording," I state.
"Deal," he grins and we get up. We get into the car and we drive to the recording studio.
"Guys! We have a new addition to the album!" Lucas states when we get in.
"What?" The recording guy, Chris, asks.
"My sister is going to sing a song," Lucas grins.
"Can she even sing? No offence," Chris asks.
"Yeah, I heard her this morning and I want her on the album and she agreed," Lucas states.
"Okay, we trust you. We'll inform Uplift to come late," chris smiles before walking away.
"Let's go into the recording studio now and then you can get used to it," Lucas states before dragging me into the recording studio.
"Do you want to record the guitar now as well?" Chris asks, handing me some water which I take.
"Yes please," I reply, finishing the water. Chris sets something up by the guitar and I sit on the stool, the guitar on my lap.
"Are you ready?" Chris asks and I nod my head before he leaves the room to go to the other side of the glass. He counts down with his fingers and then I start playing the guitar and prepare to sing.
"Long were the nights when
My days once revolved around you
Counting my footsteps
Praying the floor won't fall through, again
And my mother accused me of losing my mind
But I swore I was fine," I start singing into the microphone.
"You paint me a blue sky
And go back and turn it to rain
And I lived in your chess game
But you changed the rules everyday
Wonderin' which version of you I might get on the phone, tonight
Well I stopped pickin' up and this song is to let you know why," I sing, Lucas sending me an encouraging smile. I realise Chris is playing it out loud so they can all hear it.
"Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone.
Don't you think I was too young
To be messed with?
The girl in the dress
Cried the whole way home, I should've known." I sing, playing the guitar softly.
"Well maybe it's me
And my blind optimism to blame
Or maybe it's you and your sick need
To give love then take it away," I sing, as I see some people enter the studio where they're playing my singing and I close my eyes.
"And you'll add my name to your long list of traitors who don't understand
And I'll look back in regret how I ignored when they said,
"Run as fast as you can."," I sing, ignoring whoever just walked in.
"Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone.
Don't you think I was too young
To be messed with?
The girl in the dress
Cried the whole way home," I sing, Lucas smiling at me.
"Dear John, I see it all now it was wrong
Don't you think nineteen's too young
To be played by your dark, twisted games?
When I loved you so, I should've known." I sing, tapping my foot slightly as I start the instrumental.
"You are an expert at "Sorry"
And keeping lines blurry
Never impressed by me acing your tests
All the girls that you've run dry have tired lifeless eyes
Cause you've burned them out," I sing, loudly as I play my guitar in the background.
"But I took your matches
Before fire could catch me
So don't look now
I'm shining like fireworks
Over your sad empty town," I sing, the images of one of my ex boyfriends, John, coming into my head.
"Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone.
Don't you think I was too young
To be messed with?
The girl in the dress
Cried the whole way home," I sing, playing my guitar with my hair falling in front of my face which annoys me.
"I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young
To be messed with?
The girl in the dress
Wrote you a song, you should've known." I sing, quieter than rest of the song.
"You should've known
Don't you think I was too young?
You should've known." I finish recording and the microphones turn off.
"Uplift, I thought we told you that you aren't needed here today anymore," Chris says to Uplift when Lucas and I come out.
"We wanted to hear Lucas recording but it looks like he isn't now," Max chuckles.
"Do you want to listen to it, Avery?" Chris asks.
"No," I reply, honestly.
"Why not?" Chris asks, raising an eyebrow,
"I don't want to hear how bad it is," I grin, rolling my eyes.
"It was good though. It mixes up the rest of the album. Maybe you could do more songs on the album? You could do five, Lucas could do five, Uplift could do five, Tracy could do five and you could do five and then you could do a duet with Lucas and Uplift and maybe even Tracy," Chris states and Lucas grins.
"Really? She can do that? That's amazing!" Lucas grins, hugging me.
"I don't mind as long as I'm not doing anything live or on a stage because I will faint," I mutter and Lucas grins.
"Yes!" Lucas cheers and Chris rolls his eyes.
"Wait, what ex was that about?" Lucas asks.
"John, duh. It's in the name, Dear John," I reply, rolling my eyes ams Lucas chuckles.
"You know he probably knows about this," Lucas states.
"He does because he wrote a song about me last year when we broke up and posted it on YouTube. It's got two million views," I reply and Lucas laughs.
"Wow," Lucas grins.
"Just so you know my friend Charlotte, the one who wanted to sleep with you because she's an idiot? Yeah, well she's coming over this afternoon," I state and Lucas smirks.
"Okay," Lucas smirks.
"Don't try anything because she has a boyfriend who is a street fighter," I reply and Lucas freezes.
"Okay," Lucas chuckles.
"Now that's straight can we go home?" I ask.
"Sure," Lucas replies.
"Yeah, go home," Chris states before we all leave. I get into Lucas's car and Uplift go in Alec's. We drive back to Lucas's and start watching TV. The doorbell rings soon after and I answer it to see Charlotte stood there. She hugs me before we go into the lounge where Uplift and Lucas are.
"Hey," Lucas smirks at her as I take a seat next to him.
"H-hey," Charlotte stutters and I chuckle quietly.
"Who's this?" Alec asks and Charlotte spins round.
"You told me it would just be Lucas," Charlotte complains as she stares at Uplift.
"Well they spend a lot of time with Lucas and I couldn't be bothered to tell you, because I didn't even know them when I met them," I chuckle.
"You hadn't heard of them?! Oh my god," Charlotte squeaks and I groan.
"I'd heard them on the news, about their relationships if that counts," I reply and Charlotte narrows her eyes at me.
"Would you like a drink?" I ask Charlotte.
"Do you have any alcohol? I want to get wasted," Charlotte states.
"That's illegal. The drinking age here is 21," I reply and Charlotte rolls her eyes.
"Whatever," she rolls her eyes.
"I'll have a lemonade." Charlotte replies.
"Would you like a drink?" I ask Uplift and Lucas.
"Can I have a coke please?" Alec asks.
"Can I have a fanta please?" Max asks.
"Can I have a water please?" Tyler asks.
"Can I have lemonade please?" River asks.
"Can I have an iced tea please?" Lucas asks.
"That's how you're related! You're both obsessed with iced tea!" Charlotte shouts.
"Whatever," I roll my eyes before walking into the kitchen. I make the iced teas first before making two lemonades. Then I see a spider and scream. I hate spiders.
"What?" Lucas asks.
"Nothing!" I call back as I see the spider crawl out the window.
"Whatever!" Lucas calls and I roll my eyes. I finish making the drinks before putting them on a tray and walking in.
"There's your lemonades," I say to Charlotte and River, handing them their drinks.
"Thanks," river smiles, drinking his drink.
"There's your three drinks," I say, handing the rest of Uplift their drinks and then I hand Lucas his iced tea before going back into the kitchen to put the tray back.
"So, tell me about Avery's exes," Lucas smirks at Charlotte when I go back in.
"Her first crush was Drew but he would always talk about his crush on another girl in front of her and Avery, let's just say, wasn't impressed. Then she went out with Cory who left for Canada so they broke up. Then came John who basically used her to make her sleep with him, failed miserably. Then there was Dylan, the selfish brat. Then came George, cheated on her. Then we come to the recent ones. Parker was the one she was probably happiest with, but Parker turned out to be in love with some other girl. Then there was Stephen. He was the guy who has girls around him but somehow Avery got him. Stephen eventually started getting drunk and doing drugs and started hitting Avery. Then there came Alex, the most recent one. Alex cheated on her some slut," Charlotte explains. I look down as I feel Lucas's gaze on me.
"You never told me about Stephen," Lucas states.
"That was the year I didn't talk to you, to be fair. You were on tour and I was dating him for half a year until I broke up with him. The I had all this therapy and everything which I swear I didn't need," I state.
"You needed it. You didn't sleep for weeks," Charlotte interrupts.
"You could've called," Lucas whispers.
"I'm sorry, it's over now anyway," I apologise and Lucas hugs me.
"It's okay," Lucas replies.
"Anyway, Avery, you're coming with me to disney land tomorrow," Charlotte states and I raise an eyebrow, I've never been there.
"Why?" I ask.
"It's my birthday tomorrow and Lucas and Uplift can come too. It'll be fun," Charlotte grins.
"Why don't you all go and I stay at home and read a book?" I ask, grinning.
"Nope," Charlotte grins.
"Fine," I sigh.~*~*~*~*~*~*
