Lucas Knight ->
I have a check up today on my head. They're basically telling me if I'm going to live or not. I'm sat in the waiting room alone, my legs shaking. It's scary to know that I could know my death age in fifteen minutes time.
"Avery Knight?" A nurse calls and I stand up nervously. Did I mention Lucas doesn't know I'm here? Well he doesn't.
"Here," I reply and follow her into a room. There's a chair and something which I put on my head and it sends a painful shock through the body. i sit down and they put the head thing on my head and I wait for the shock. It comes and I let out an ear piercing scream as the shock shoots through me like I've been shot. Three hundred times. The pain goes and they have the results.
"I'm terribly sorry. According to the results you won't live older than twenty five," the doctor says and tears immediately fill my eyes. Seven years, that's all I have to live.
"O-okay," I stutter.
"We're very sorry," the doctor says before I leave. I get a taxi and they drive me home.
When I arrive, I go straight up to my room and lie down. I grab my notebook and start to finish off my song. I manage to do it through the pain I'm feeling. However, I have a feeling it's going to be worse for Lucas when I tell him. Tears slip out my eyes and Alec comes in my room.
"What's wrong?" Alec asks, sitting next to me and putting an arm around my waist.
"I-I had some bad news," I stutter back.
"Continue," Alec states.
"I-I had a check up today at the hospital for my head. A-As you know, the brain controls your body and could k-kill you. I-I had my check up, they used that electric head thing, and they got the results. T-they s-said that I'm not going to live after I'm twenty five," I whisper and Alec looks shocked.
"T-twenty five? That's not long," Alec whispers, holding me closer.
"I-I know," I whisper, resting my head on his shoulder. He looks down at me and holds me close. And that's when the door swings open and the remainder Uplift walk in.
"What's going on?" Max asks, sitting next to me.
"I got bad news," I reply, wiping my eyes.
"What was it?" River asks.
"It must be bad," Tyler states.
"I had a check-up today about my head. You know, about the fainting and everything? Well the checked it to see about it and they told me I would only live to twenty five," I whisper.
"Wow, that's short," Max sighs, putting an arm around my waist.
"It's scary how quickly your life can change within a couple of minutes," I whisper.
"We can make the most of what you have, do everything we can." Max states.
"What's the point? I'm not going to remember any of it anyway," I reply.
"How do you know?" Tyler asks, raising an eyebrow.
"If blood and oxygen doesn't go to your brain, you can't think. Therefore when you die, you can't remember anything," I reply and Alec tightens his grip on my waist, surprising me.
"Are you still able to record today? You need to be there, like, now," Max says and I smile.
When we arrive, we rush in and they're waiting for me, impatiently.
"Sorry, hospital," I reply before grabbing my headphones and setting up the recording stuff before the background music starts.
"Looking at it now
It all seems so simple
We were lying on your couch
I remember," I start to sing into the recording device. The memories of a certain ex fills my mind.
"You took a Polaroid of us
Then discovered
The rest of the world was black and white
But we were in screaming color
And I remember thinking..." I sing, smiling slightly.
"Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet?
Good," I sing, concentrating hard on the lyrics.
"Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet?
Good," I repeat smiling,
"Are we out of the woods?" I sing, louder.
"Looking at it now
Last December
We were built to fall apart
Then fall back together," I sing, glancing at Uplift and Lucas who are on the other side of the glass for once.
"Your necklace hanging from my neck
The night we couldn't quite forget
When we decided
To move the furniture so we could dance,
Baby, like we stood a chance
Two paper airplanes flying, flying, flying
And I remember thinkin'," I sing, smiling at uplift and Lucas.
"Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet?
Good," I sing again, smiling.
"Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet?
Good," I repeat.
"Are we out of the woods?!" I sing, preparing for my favourite bit.
"Remember when you hit the brakes too soon?
Twenty stitches in the hospital room
When you started cryin', baby, I did, too
But when the sun came up, I was lookin' at you," I sing the first half of my favourite bit.
"Remember when we couldn't take the heat
I walked out and said, "I'm settin' you free,"
But the monsters turned out to be just trees
And when the sun came up, you were lookin' at me," I sing, smiling as I remember him. Him being Grayson Hills, biggest celebrity after Lucas. I dated Grayson before Hollywood.
"You were lookin' at me
You were lookin' at me,
I remember, oh, I remember," I sing, loudly.
"Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet?
Good," I sing further.
"Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet?
Good," I continue singing.
"Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet?
Good," I sing, confidently.
"Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods yet?
Are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
Are we in the clear yet?
In the clear yet?
Good," I finish singing, smiling as I do so. Then I leave the recording studio.
"We have an interview now!" Lucas calls from the main room.
"Okay, Lucas!" I call back before going into the main room. I notice Alec stays close to me the whole time which is good. Then we get into a car and we drive to the interview.
We walk on the state and the audience clap. We sit down on the long sofa. I'm sat next to Lucas and Alec.
"We would like to play a game! Most likely to is first. Here are some cards and show the audience the name you think is most likely to do the thing on the card," the interviewer, Millie, states and we pick up the cards.
"Okay, who is the most likely to walk around the house naked?" Millie asks and we hold up our cards. I hold up Max, Lucas does the same, Alec also does this, Tyler puts Alec and so does Max and River.
"Okay, who's most likely to be having a fling with someone?" Millie asks and we hold up our cards. Lucas puts me, which is stupid. Alec puts Lucas, along with Max and River and Tyler puts Alec. I also put Lucas.
"Who is most likely to kiss a member of Uplift?" Millie asks and we hold our cards up. I put Lucas, Lucas puts me, Alec puts me along with the rest of uplift.
"Who is most likely to fall head over heels in love?" Millie asks. I put Alec, Lucas puts me, Alec puts me, Max puts Alec, Tyler puts Alec and River puts me. I roll my eyes and Lucas laughs.
"Who is most likely to fall off the stage?" Millie asks.
"It's obviously Avery," Lucas mutters as they all hold their cards up on me. I put Lucas.
"Excuse me, Lucas. Would you like to watch this?" I ask, showing a clip from one of his performances. He jumps into the chair and the chair slips, making him fall off the chair.
"Uh, that was a mistake," Lucas mutters.
"Who's most likely to sleep until one in the afternoon?" Millie asks.
"Lucas or Avery," Uplift say at the same time and Lucas and I roll our eyes.
"Who is most likely to die before they're thirty?" Millie asks and I tense up. Uplift glance at each other before eventually holding up Alec. I hold up myself and Lucas holds up Alec.
"Who's most likely to be single forever?" Millie asks. I put Lucas, Lucas puts me, Alec puts me, River puts Alec, along with the other Uplift members.
"Now it's question time! Who have you seen naked?" Millie asks. And we hold up our cards. I don't hold up anything except myself and Lucas and Uplift have all their names up, Except mine.
"Have you seen anyone kissing someone?" Millie asks. I hold up Lucas, and they all hold up each other again.
"Have you ever walked in on someone in the shower?" Millie asks.
"No," I state.
"Yes," the others all reply.
"Have you ever had a crush on someone else famous?" Millie asks.
"No, not really," I reply.
"Not even One Direction?" Millie asks.
"No, they're not my thing to be honest," I reply.
"What about Lucas, or Uplift?" Millie asks.
"You know, I've always liked Selena Gomez," Lucas admits.
"Other than Lucas, obviously, I would say Demi Lovato," River chuckles.
"Last question, are any of you single?" Millie asks.
"Yeah, always will be!" I grin.
"I am, Lucas is, River is, Max is and Tyler isn't," Alec explains, flashing a grin.
"Who's Tyler with?" I ask, leaning forward slightly.
"Tracy, of course," Alec replies and Tyler blushes.
"Lucas, how could you have a flipping fling with Tracy then?" I ask, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Because he's making it up. We never wanted it to go into the public," Alec explains, chuckling as he leans back into the chair so his arm is resting on the back of the chair I'm sat on.
"Oh. Sorry," I apologise and Alec smiles at me.
"It's fine, it would've come out eventually," Alec chuckles.
"Yeah," Tyler chuckles.
"Anyway, where are you planning in going with your career?" Millie asks me.
"Uh, I don't know. I would like to fit as much as I can in," I reply, feeling the tears rise when I realise I don't have that long left to do what I want.
"You have a while left anyway," Millie says and I let out a breath. It sounds shaky, as though I'm trying to put vibrato on my breath.
"Uh, y-yeah," I mumble.
"Are you alright?" Lucas asks me.
"Y-yeah, fuck I'm a bad liar," I curse and Alec Takes my hand and squeezes it.
"What happened at the check-up? Is that what you're lying about?" Lucas asks me.
"It was bad news," I mumble.
"What is it?" Lucas asks, clearly nervous.
"I don't have long left. I'm only going to live until I-" I start to say before I accidentally let out a sob. Alec leans over.
"You'll have to tell him eventually. I'm sure he'll cope," Alec whispers in my ear.
"Until what? Your fifties? That's a while away yet," Lucas states.
"T-twenty five," I whisper and he suddenly stands up.
"Who knew this?" Lucas demands.
"Alec, Max, Tyler and River," I whisper, quietly.
"They knew before me?! How could you not tell me?!" Lucas yells, pushing his chair over before storming out the building. I let out a shaky breath and Alec pulls me into his chest.
"I'm leaving," I say before walking out. I get a taxi home and walk into the silent house.
