The next day we are back in the training room and at the punching bags. I listened to what Eric said and just focused on my arms. Next thing I know I hear:
"Charlie and Will! In the ring." Eric says. Peter grabs my hand an squeezes it. I squeeze back and let go as I reach the ring. I keep a straight face and show no fear.
"How long do we fight for?" Will asks.
"You fight until one of you can't continue." Eric says.
"Or when one of you concedes." Four pipes up.
"According to the old rules, the new rules, no one concedes." Eric says.
"You want to lose 'em on their first fight?" Four asks
"A brave man never surrenders." Eric says
"Lucky for you, those weren't the rules when we fought." Four resorts.
"You'll be scored on this, so fight hard." Eric says, choosing to ignore Fours comment. "Go!"
Both Will and I get into our fighting positions. Will moves around a little bit, like he is afraid.
"Are you going to punch me or are you to pussy to hit a girl?" I ask sarcastically.
I guess my comment caused Will to get slightly angry at me, because he swung, I catch his fist and flip him over, causing him to hit the ground with a thud.
"Awww, looks like you missed." I tease. Will gets back up, and gets back into his fighting position. One thing I notice is that Will left his ribs exposed, I take this opportunity to attempt to kick him, but he catches my foot, causing him to smirk. I smirk back, and kick my other leg, gaining momentum as I do so, my foot connects with his face, which causes him to let go of my other foot. I land perfectly and see his eyes roll back in his head. I smile as he falls to the ground in an unconscious heap.
"And that is how it is done ladies and gentlemen." I say, walking off the mat. Eric goes an circles my name. I walk up to Peter, Molly and Drew.
"Charlie, that was amazing." Peter says.
"Yeah, I didn't know you could do that." Drew says. I nod, thanking them, then walk up to Eric.
"How'd I do?" I ask.
"You did well, but you need to stretch the fight out more, make it last longer. Use your arms more and only use your feet as a last resort." Eric says. I nod in understanding. Eric tells me that I can go because I finished my fight.
I leave the training room and walked back to the dormitory. I grab clean clothes from my bunk and go to the bathroom to shower.
I let the warm water relax the muscles in my back as I reflect on what happened just now. I knocked Will out.. with no remorse what so ever... Jesus..
I shut the water off as it begins to run cold. Wrapping a towel around me, I step out of the shower. I catch a glance of myself in the mirror, and just kind of stare.
I still look like Charlotte, the girl from Candor that followed Peter around basically like a lost puppy because he's my best friend. I don't like it. I need to change something.
I quickly get dressed and brush out my hair, then leave the dorms before I can change my mind.
With help from one of the members of Dauntless, I find myself in front of the tattoo shop.
"Ah, an initiate. What can I do for you today?" The guy at the counter asks.
"I'd like a tattoo, technically two, as well as my septum pierced and snakebite piercings." I tell him.
