Puppy Love

"Shh, Naked you need to be quiet," Richie hushed the puppy with a finger pressed against his lips as he tried to sneak it into the apartment in the middle of the night without waking his sleeping lover, "Eds will lose it if he finds out about you." He quietly walked the puppy, he had of course named Naked cause he is Richie Tozier after all, into the spare room in their apartment. He giggled softly as the puppy jumped up in an attempt to lick his face, she was a surprisingly good girl and she barely barked which made it easier for Richie to hide the corgi. He had already put a bowl of dog food and water in the room for the puppy, he knew he could not stay and play too long incase Eddie woke up and wondered where his boyfriend was.

Richie, trashmouth, Tozier was actually good at keeping secrets and he managed to keep Naked hidden from his boyfriend however what he was not good at was making sure Eddie did not know he was hiding something so the hypochondriac was definitely suspicious that there was something going on. Richie would excuse himself from activities with the losers to keep the hidden puppy company and play with her, he had not intended to buy her and was only supposed to be scoping out the kennels with Mike to help him get a new sheepdog for the farm but the second his eyes had landed on the corgi he had immediately fallen in love and Mike had been a pretty bad influence and convinced him to buy the puppy without consulting Eddie. He was so worried that his boyfriend would force him to return the puppy which was why he was hiding Naked in the apartment.

"Bev, I think Richie is cheating on me," Eddie said suddenly one night when he was hanging out at Bev and Ben's with the losers excluding Richie and Mike. Both Bev and Ben choked on their drinks at the assumption where as Stan whipped his head round to look at Eddie in complete and utter shock, "What makes you think that? Richie literally has heart eyes whenever he even so much as looks at you!" He did not like where Eddie was going with this, he truly did not believe his best friend was capable of cheating on the love of his life. "Y-Yeah Eds what makes you t-t-think that Richie would c-cheat on y-you?" Bill questioned, his stutter slightly better than it once was, a skeptical look on his face. Eddie did not answer them though and just looked at Bev as she was the one he had said it to not the other losers, he trusted Bev's advice more than any of the other losers cause he knew that all they would do would be to simply defend Richie. "I mean Eddie if you really think that then of course I'll help you but I'm with the other losers on this one, what makes you think he's cheating on you?"

"Well he keeps telling me he's working late but when I come home I can hear him speaking to someone in the spare room and he keeps calling them a good girl and he laughs a lot, he won't hang out with us cause he's busy and he seems to have this guilty look on his face whenever I ask him about his work and what he's working on so late... a few weeks ago as well he came in late and I pretended to be asleep and I heard him speaking to someone and I heard him say 'eds will lose it if he finds out about you'," He used finger-quotes to emphasise the last part and he looked at the rest of the losers waiting for them to come up with some bullshit reason to defend Richie.

The losers did not know about Naked, Mike was the only one and he was not there, so hearing what Eddie was saying they could not deny that it sounded bad for their friend but Richie was not a cheater... was he? He would not do that to Eddie, he had pined over him for years. "Well," Bev started looking around the room to see if any of the losers would join in with her but they did not and gave Bev the full spotlight, "Why don't you catch him in the act? That way you'll know for definite." That sounded like a good idea.

It took a few days before Eddie decided to put his plan into action. He told his boyfriend that he was going out and would not be back until late, he was going to get the other losers to back him up and they would catch Richie in the act. Eddie was only getting the other losers because he knew if he saw Richie with someone else he would not know what to do but the others would. Mike had for some reason been very against this idea and none of the losers would comprehend why, he did not have enough time to warn Richie either plus there was no way Richie would be able to act quick enough anyway.

"Whose daddy's good girl?" The losers heard Richie coo from inside the spare room and they all shared a look and Bev even shuddered, that comment bringing back way to many unpleasant memories to her. God she hoped there was a reasonable explanation for this. They all nodded towards Eddie, a silent way of letting them know no matter what they would support him. Without any hesitation Eddie opened the door and what he saw caused his jaw to drop because he was so taken back by the sight; Richie on his knees with a dog toy playing with a chubby corgi puppy.

"Eds...?" Richie said in shock as he turned to see his boyfriend and the rest of the losers standing in the doorway, "I-I can, uh, I can explain?" He tried, he waited for Eddie to get mad but he never did. Instead Eddie practically threw himself on his boyfriend, sobbing into his chest causing Naked to bark in concern and Richie rub Eddie's back. "Baby, are you okay?" He felt nervous. "Richie fucking Tozier... I hate you so much! I thought you were fucking cheating on me!" He exclaimed weakly punching Richie's chest. "You thought I was cheating on you? Spaghetti man I would never do that... you're the only one for me, you're perfect plus no one can quite raise my dic-"

"beep, beep Richie." Eddie looked at the love of his life and smiled softly as Richie wiped the tears away. The other losers awed and Mike spoke up, "This is why I was so against the plan! Do you understand now?" He then explained how Richie had ended up purchasing the puppy. That caused everyone to go off on Mike and how he had not told the others so they knew for definite that Richie was not cheating and Mike simply shrugged before saying that they would have told Eddie and he was not supposed to know.

"Now we do need to discuss some things about this dog," Eddie gestured to Naked but before he could say anymore Naked was on his lap giving him kisses and he even licked Eddie's lips. Normally the hypochondriac would have immediately gone off on a rant about germs but instead he just giggled. "Sorry seems like neither me or Naked can resist your lips," Richie winked with a cheeky smirk. "We definitely need to change her name." Richie's eyes widened and he grinned, "But we can keep her?" He sounded like a child on Christmas. "We can keep her."

Sorry I'm so bad at endings lmao but Richie would definitely call his dog Naked and I'm willing to fight for this fact
