Backstory: Takai is always with Gin. After meeting Rangiku and always with them he started to ship them (Ginran).  He left with Gin to become a shinigami and to protect Tangiku with Gin. After Gin's death he kept a promise, which was to always protect Rangiku.....to this day he will never break his promise to his older brother
