What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Meiri was as good as her word, and the three Shinra employees had barely made it to their rooms before three women entered to help Eve with her dress. Thankfully it didn't take them nearly as long to remove everything. They even helped her take the make-up off. Eve was glad to be rid of it, even if she was a bit embarrassed by the robe they left her with. All of their clothes had been taken for cleaning with a promise that they would have them back before they woke.

When they finally left and Eve rejoined the others, she found that they had also been given sleeping robes. She had to do her best to not embarrass herself as they tried to discuss what would come. Luckily, they all agreed that they needed rest soon after.

It wasn't until she caught Genesis smirking as he walked into one of the side rooms that Eve finally comprehended the full weight of what she had agreed to when she asked to stay. She realized Sephiroth must have already thought of it when he had intimated that she should accept the offer. Part of her agreed and thought about calling for Meiri, but she pushed that part aside. She and Sephiroth needed to talk anyway.

Their relationship was far from average, so it was understandable that what would normally work for other couples would need to be tweaked. Eve had plenty of experience helping other people deal with these types of issues, but never had for herself, which made it worse.

She was drawn from her thoughts as Sephiroth gently took one of her hands after Genesis was in the other room. Eve felt guilty at his first question. "Is there something wrong? I know you are the one that asked to stay here, but you have hardly looked at me all evening."

She sighed and grabbed his other hand before she looked up into his eyes. "The only problem I have is a general lack of self-control. If I had looked at you in that haori any more than I had to, I might have ended up embarrassing us both."

Eve knew her cheeks had to be blazing at that admission, but she also knew it had been the right thing to say. Sephiroth blinked a couple of times and then smiled at her as understanding dawned on him. He pulled her hands until she was close enough to wrap his arms around. He held her loosely. "Does that mean you like the new outfit?"

She grinned up at him. "Do you think they would let you keep it?"

He smirked before he leaned down and brushed his lips across hers. She could feel his breath on her lips as he spoke and had to fight to repress a shiver. "I'm sure something can be negotiated."

When he pulled her closer slightly and kissed her again, she leaned into him. Eve had been kissed before, but that was as far as she had ever been able to allow, and then only after months of dating. Not that there had been much of that in her life. It was hard to become intimate with another person when you panicked every time they got close to you. Kissing Sephiroth was entirely different. She had no other thoughts besides his heat against her and how incredibly delicious he was.

She nearly sighed when he finally pulled back. His eyes held concern when he looked down at her. "While I am glad that you aren't regretting your admission already, I don't want you to be uncomfortable. If you were to call Meiri, I am sure she would be happy to find you another room."

Eve hesitated. She had no point of reference for what they were getting in to, and the timing couldn't be worse, but somehow, she didn't want to leave. She shook her head. "I won't lie and say I haven't thought about it, but I meant it when I said I think I would be more comfortable here. I can't think of a safer place for me to sleep than in your bed."

She felt Sephiroth stiffen in her arms, and concern crossed her face. She didn't get to ask why before he started speaking slowly. "Eve, Just the thought of that- it has my heart racing, but I do not want to rush this."
