Rodger's POV.The prom was turning out sweet. I wasn't the guy for decorations but that Mercy girl sure had a hand for it. The place was what Mark would describe exquisite. He was the one into huge kind of words. The lights were perfect and the Hall beautiful. The food and drinks wasn't bad either.
A beep inside my pocket brought me back from my mid world. A realisation that things were still the same, in my world at least.'It's time.'
I put down the soft drink and headed out. From the surrounding rooftops I could picture snipers with their red mark on poor helpless clueless Allan. Anytime from now the fate the nation would change, drastically. We needed to act fast. While he makes merry in there, I was out here sticking up to his back. And all for what, nothing! No wait, there is a price for this if Stockman finds out, my head.
'I'll cover the roof, you take the grounds'. Came a second beep.
I snuck out of the Hall and through the hallway. It was all quiet, except the awful sound of some couple making out that made me sick. Beside that was thick silence.
Another beep came through and made me alert.'Someone texted the Target, the signal is down the hall room s202'.
I hurried to the room. The initials meant second floor room two. On the science wing. By now Mark was probably turning off the surveillance of the room. The assassins didn't see the need to, it would be a way to make a mark of their existence. So why hide the murder. As for us, no one was to know we were here. We worked silently. Slow rivers run deep. That is our philosophy.
I found the room. It was a classroom with the lights still on and the missing red blink from the CCTV gave me the go ahead. There was a shuffling from the inside of the classroom and the unmistakable sound of a gun being cocked. The door was slightly open. The movements indicated only one person in the room. Then he went quiet. Waiting for his prey.
I walked into the room deciding it was safe to do so. The assailant was seated on the teacher's bench legs crossed and arms resting on the table. He saw me but didn't even flinch. An evil smile forced itself on my face. He had no clue what he got himself into."Walk out, you don't want to be here. This room is, taken." he said turning my way.
For a moment we locked eyes. His smirk faded as he reached to his side to grab a rifle. I was faster however and knocked it off from his hand. He's a right hand.
He turned around and a Jagger protruded into his right hand from his sleeves. This was a trick I very much got used to. He attacked with his left hand, which I blocked and with the other hand tried to stab my side. Only I had seen that coming. I grabbed the arm, twisted it hard and he dropped it down. He pulled himself away before I could afflict more damage. He gained a considerable distance nearer to the entrance of the room. If he wanted to he could run. But he wouldn't. His weapons were still in his bag below the table. His identity was bound to be there too. That's why he couldn't run and he knew it. Unfortunately he still had some knives on him and took all delight in using them. He rotated swiftly throwing multiple knives towards me. I ducked, jumped, rolled gaining distance towards him. He ran out of knives and charged forward. I blocked his first punch and sneaked in a few blows to his side. His second punch was poorly aimed. I caught it, twisted and pinched his face hard. He fell down and I caught him by the shirt.
"Who the heck are you? "
"If I tell you I'd have to kill you. " I said and hit him unconscious.
I checked into his bag. He had various guns and knives and most importantly, his identity. I took a picture of it and replaced it back.
I texted Mark, 'so what do we do with him now? '
'We can't call the cleaners, they'll skin him alive. Am calling one of the security guards, meanwhile get out of there'.
I put the phone back and headed out closing the door. Along the hallway back to the ground floor couples were chitchatting taking their precious time and all. I noticed two men. One in a total dark suit and the other an ordinary guard in his uniform. The former was probably the one incharge of security. As we passed he gave me a sinister look as if I had been up to no good, if he only knew how much...
