Tracy's POV.Mercy led me to the kitchen table. It was aligned with different kinds of food just to mention.
"Jeff?!"she half yelled. I just shrugged. "He just asked and I accepted " I replied.
"What about Allan and Rodgers? They were literary drooling for you Tracy. "
She replied.
"What about you, I haven't seen you date yet. "I said changing the subject, or rather the turn of the chitchat. At that instance Lucy, a friend of hers, called her. Mercy excused herself. At the door she turned "this, " she said gesturing to me and herself, "it's not over. "
I looked back at the large table. So many kinds of food, with just me in here.., sweet!
I took hold of a tray, unfortunately I couldn't find a bigger plate, and served myself with a little bit of everything. And it was alot. I then discreetly went out to the only quiet place I knew. The roof tops. I used the stairs. It was along way to the sixth floor and the roof top but with the tray and food it was worth while.
I was sure to meet Marco here.He was busy focused to his computer while listening to something using some earphones.
"You're not watching a show while on duty soldier, " I teased.
"Look who's talking "he replied in the same tone. "Look what I brought you."
"Thanks, you're the best" he said choosing some queencakes.
I sat there beside him leaning against the huge metal water tank. The tray was between us."This now, is what makes our missions worthwhile. "
"I couldn't agree more"he replied.
Just then something flashed across his phone. It was a message. We shared a common look.
"It's a text to Allan's phone, " he said tracing the signal on his computer.
"it is coming from room 203 on the science wing. " He connected to the surveillance in that area. Inside the room was a guy packing some knives into his pocket. He had a hand gun placed on the table. Beside it was a bag where I assume he puts his weapons. He seemed ready to get the job done and leave, maybe to another state, or to another hunt. Just then the camera turned off. Marco tried reviving the surveillance system. It was no common blackout. Someone had interfered.
"Maybe he's not working alone." Marco suggested. It could be." Try a visual on Allan. "I instructed. I watched as he worked his way on the computer. The surveillance inside the Hall was still working. Only that on the Science wing was shut off. The camera showed Allan dancing with some blue girl who I assumed was his date. At least he was safe. And from the look of things he wasn't in a hurry to leave for a random text. But I couldn't help feel bad about it. From asking me out at a lunch bench to I'm dancing with another girl, guys..,
"At least he's safe" I let out after one silence. "I'll go check on this 203 dude " I said getting up.
"About that, I don't think there's a reason to"he said turning his computer for me to see what he meant. The surveillance was back. Inside the classroom was the guy knocked out cold on the floor. I couldn't tell if he was breathing at all. Someone had gotten to him before we did.
Maybe it was the same guy that pit the surveillance off. I looked at Marco and we shared another puzzled look. Nothing was adding up.*****************,***
I left Marco and headed back to the Hall. Soft music was playing and coupled danced in sync in each others' arms. At the corner of my eye I could see Allan, with his date lying on his chest as they danced. Rodgers was nowhere to be seen. I got back to our table. Jeff was still there sipping his drink. I had forgotten about him. The rest of the table was empty. He kept staring right even as I sat opposite him. Like he hadn't noticed me coming. It took me a while realised he was staring at another girl. The same Jennifer from Chemistry class. She did not have her glasses on which made her more pretty. She and her date had just got back to their table. Her date excused himself for a while.
"Go, talk to her. " I said. His cheeks brightened.
"No, I can't. I wouldn't want to ruin her time"he tried defending.
" Just go, you know you want to."I urged on.
"I can't, what do I even tell her? " he was reluctant.
"Tell her she looks good, compliment her, talk about the night. It will be nice promise. " I encouraged. But he was still reluctant to leave from his seat.
"It's either you go or I'll march there and tell her you've been staring at her all evening " I threatened.
"OK, ok, am going. " I watched as he gathered up his confidence and headed to her. Halfway he looked back, with the look of a shy puppy till I gave him a thumbs up. He smiled and proceeded.Rodger's POV.
Inside the Hall couples danced in sync. There was Allan with Suzanne Collins dancing. I read her profile. She was close to him but not a threat. Then I saw Tracy enter. She scanned the place for a while before proceeding to her seat. I saw her chat with that Jeff guy and he left her to talk to to another girl. Tracy gave him a thumbs up. Jeff sat next to the girl and they both got engaged in a conversation. The girl seemed to be enjoying his company. I wonder what Tracy told him.
This was my chance, I smiled to myself and headed her way.:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
