Steve takes me to the medical section of the helicarrier so the doctors could work on getting the bullet out of my arm. I watch as the doctor puts some alcohol onto a small cloth and comes close to my wound. I try to prepare myself for the burning I would feel and without knowledge, I grab Steve's hand who was sitting next to me. "This is gonna hurt a bit." Doc warns me and applies the cloth. I hiss at the pain in my arm as he gently wipes the alcohol dampened cloth on the wound. I squeeze Steve's hand to take my focus off of the pain. He squeezes back to reassure he was there. The doctor wraps my arm with some gauze and gives me some meds to num the pain. Steve helps me up and we head towards the conference room, or what's left of it. We walk in to see Fury and Tony standing alone in the room. Tony, Steve, and I sit down while Fury continues to stand.

"We're dead in the air up here. Our communications, the location of the cube, Banner, Thor...I got nothing for you. I lost my one good eye. Maybe I had that coming. Yes, we were going to build an arsenal with the Tesseract. I never put all my chips on that number, though because I was playing something even riskier." Fury states as he walks to the empty chair next to me and leans against it.

"There was an idea, Stark knew this, called the Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people. To see if they could become something more. To see if they could work together when we needed them to fight the battle that we never could. Phil Coulson died still believing in that idea. In heroes." Fury explains. Triggered, Tony stands up and starts to walk away. I glance over to Steve and we both quickly follow Tony out of the room.

We find Tony in the room where Loki was being held in. But now the cage was gone and no Loki. Just us. "Tony..." I begin feeling bad for the man,

"Don't." he says coldly, glaring at Steve and I, "I don't need your pity."

"Was he married?" Steve asks, adding into the conversation.

"I think there was a cellist."

"I'm sorry. He seemed like a good man." Steve apologizes.

"He was an idiot." Tony snaps.

"Why? For believing?" Steve asks.

"For taking on Loki alone." Tony states.

"He was doing his job." I say.

Tony scoffs, "He was out of his league. He should have waited. He should have..." He narrows his eyes to the ground, upset.

"Sometimes there isn't a way out, Tony." Steve tells him.

"Right, I've heard that before."

"Is this the first time you lost a soldier?" Steve asks.

"We are not soldiers!" Tony exclaims, agitated, "I'm not marching in Fury's fife."

"Neither am I." Steve agrees.

"No one is." I add as I walk towards the two men.

"He's got the same blood on his hands that Loki does. But right now, we got to put that behind us, and get this done." Steve states sternly. Tony looks at the dried blood stain on the wall, Coulson's blood. "Loki needs a power source. If we can put together a list..." Steve says.

"He made it personal." Tony interrupts, realizing something.

"That's not the point."

"That is the point! That's Loki's point. He hit us all where we live. Why?" I say, understanding what Tony was thinking.

"To tear us apart." Steve answers.

"Divide and conquer." Tony says.

"Yeah, divide and conquer is great, but he knows he has to take us out to win, right?" Tony questions, "He wants to beat us, he wants to be seen doing it. He wants an audience."

"Right. I caught his act in Stuttgart." Steve nods.

"Yeah, that was just previews. This is opening night. And Loki, he's a full-tilt diva, right? He wants flowers, he wants parades. He wants a monument built to the skies with his name plastered..." Tony pauses. "Son of a bitch". Tony states as he pushes past us. We head to where we left our suits and change into them. We checked around the helicarrier for anyone else to help aid us, but stop when we heard of Agent Barton and Romanoff being on the helicarrier. They were in a medical room cleaning their wounds when we walk in.

      "Time to go." I state.

      "Go where?" Romanoff asks.

"We'll tell you on the way. Can you fly one of those jets?" Steve asks. Agent Barton walks out from the bathroom, drying his hands.

"I can." He answers. I look over at Nat and she nods her head, saying he's ok.

"You got a suit?" I ask.

      "Yeah." He replies.

"Then suit up." Once everyone gathers up what they need, we head out to one of the jets in the hanger.
