Eldegarde

Chapter 4

     "There were reports of many people who have gone missing but were never found."

     "Were?"

     "Yes. We presumed them to be dead given by the large puddles of blood we found many times while searching for them."

     "Lady Cheyenne. Might I ask how you know these people are dead?" Mother questioned.

     "With the identifier."

     "Right. I forgot about that."

     "Do not fret Lady Caoimhe. It is a device not commonly used unless desperate measures call."

     "Do you have the names of these unfortunate victims?"

     Lady Cheyenne nodded her head as she gave my mother the names of the unfortunate. I stared off into space as all noise began to fade into the background.

     Willowgard. One of the most kind hearted family. They are rather peaceful and always see both sides before making decisions. They are also known to be the best healers in the land. Willowgards rule with heart, meaning they value others' words more than their own. Which is kind of bad, since it means that they also take in harsh critical comments.

     "Is something the matter Eldegarde?"

     "No. I was just thinking about how these victims could have been missing."

     "Ha! Would you look at that? Eldegarde? Thinking? The world must be ending!" Marie's older brother Richard snorted.

     "It is. Besides, I always think. It even helps me when fighting." I said flatly.

     "What are you implying?"

     "Oh I don't know. Maybe the fact that your arrogance is so strong that your younger cousins beat you with it."

     "Why you little-"

     "Anyways," I cut him off "When do you get these reports, Lady Cheyenne?"

     "Early morning. Around breakfast, I should say."

     "Then that opens up the possibility that these victims were taken at night, when almost everyone is dormant."

     "That could be. But how come no one has seen them?"

     An eerie disturbing feeling crawled up my back as I calmly recited, "They cannot be seen in broad daylight, the calming night, or the plain of sight. They feed on the weak and strong alike. When a soul wanders alone is when they gain might. Their weapons resembles that of a spike. The unfortunates turned into divisions from their bite."
