"So, do you think I look hot?" I chuckle and make an exaggerated pose pretending to be modeling.
"Oh my God, yes!" Stella stands up from the bed with just one heel on. "Whoa, Rebecca, you look stunning."
I feel myself blush lightly. She touches my dress with the tips of her fingers. "Velvet, huh?" She looks at me.
"Yeah." I nod. "Your dress is beautiful too. Why haven't you put it on yet?" I ask. "Actually, why did you put your heels first?"
"Cause I'm trying first if I can walk with these pieces of shit." She groans and glances at herself through the mirror on the wall. "How did we get here?" She turns to me. "I'm dating a super rich hot guy and I'm attending a lady's wedding who I don't even know."
"Yeah." I laugh. "Crazy, huh?" I pause. "The world Nolan was hiding from me..." I step closer to her and see my reflection in the mirror. "Do you think Jack will find me hot?"
"You tryna impress him now?" She chuckles.
"I may not have a boyfriend Stella but I do want people to find me attractive, you know? I am like a divorced old lady who's trying to feel young and pretty."
"You just misquoted a Lana del Rey's song."
"You're stupid." I roll my eyes.
"He'll find you beautiful, Becca." She takes off her heels and sits on the bed. "I wish he wasn't an idiot and dump Nicole right away to date you."
"Thought you hated the idea of us together." I furrow my eyebrows.
"I mean—" she sighs. "He's a fuckboy... /and an idiot. But you've told me you don't want to be like committed to a relationship and that you've been good friends so... I guess you would be one of those couples who are not a couple but are kind of... dating?" She pauses. "I don't even know if I explain myself." She laughs.
"You do." I say. "I gotta finish my makeup. Bye." I turn around and head to the door.
"Wait!" She exclaims and I turn my head to her. "You got mad?"
"No." I laugh. "I just guess you're right." I shrug.

After personally greeting Stas' mother at the end of the ceremony, Nate and I walked together outside the big mansion to grab seats. An alternative pop band is playing on a beautifully decorated stage. The whole place is filled with tables and chairs covered in fine silky fabrics and waitresses are walking all over the place checking if everything is okay.
"It's a beautiful place, huh?" Nate leans and whispers while sliding his arm around my waist.
"Yeah." I smile and turn to him.
"The ceremony wasn't as long and boring as I thought it was gonna be." He says. "I think making it inside the house wasn't a bad idea." He half laughs.
"It's such a beautiful mansion." I grin. "So, how do you know her family?" I ask.
"Well, her sister and I used to date. Well, not dating exactly but—"
"I get it." I chuckle.
"Yeah." He smiles. "So I used to go pretty frequently to her house after school cause she has lived alone with her since she turned sixteen but her sister wanted to go to college on the other side of the country so we stopped talking."
"Oh." I pause. "I think Jack mentioned it once." I say.
"Mentioned what?" He says. "No one knows we banged." He laughs.
