Mavis's POV

"Grab onto me!" Zeref yells at me as I plummet towards the ground. Although I'm a ghost, I feel as if I may die all over again. I grab onto Zeref's sleeve and hold onto to him tightly, snuggling in close to his chest as we head straight towards the ground.

"Zeref!" I shriek as we get closer to the ground. His dark eyes widen and his face becomes serious. Suddenly out of nowhere we hear,

"Gate of the Maiden I open thee! Virgo!" It's Lucy's voice. Suddenly we are plucked out of the air by a pink haired maid with chains around her wrists. She carefully sets us down, and then quickly returns to where Lucy is standing, next to Natsu.

"Mavis! Are you ok?!" Lucy asks rushing forward. I turn around, looking at Zeref. But he's only staring at Natsu, who in return is giving him a death glare.

"I have to go," Zeref nods his head at me and starts to walk away.

"Zeref! Wait!" I rush after him, ignoring Lucy and Natsu and leaving them behind as I rush into the dark alley.

"Zeref!?" I shout out as I run down the narrow alleyways, watching as cats scatter when I put my foot down.

"Zeref?!" I yell out again, he won't answer me! Finally I just give up. I slump to my knees and put my head in my hands. He's gone. I just can't seem to have anything go right tonight.

"Please don't cry."

"Huh?" I look up to see Zeref's dark eyes looking back into mine, pain and some weird emotion in them. Does he feel pain for me?!

"Zeref!" I wrap my arms around him, not thinking and pull him closely. At first he gasps in surprise but then he embraces me, sending shivers down my back. Zeref, why did you come back? His hands runs along my back, making swirling circles to comfort me.

"Zeref..." I feel the tears start to come to my eyes again. I just can't seem to hold back the tears right now.

"Mavis, please don't cry." He wipes the tears from my face with his hand and caresses my face. He smiles at me, causing me to blush at his kind gaze. I reach up and grab the arm that's caressing my face and hold it. Is this moment truly real? I gaze up into his dark eyes, his black hair casting shadows over his young, but ancient face.

"Zeref,"

"Mavis."

"Zeref," I start to count, just like I had heard from Jellal doing. 1...2...3. I lock my gaze with Zeref and lean forward. Causing our lips to collide together.

"Mmph!" Zeref moans in surprise. I smile as I kiss him. Even if he doesn't love me back, I'm glad to have this moment. Even if it's for just a little awhile. Suddenly he breaks apart and looks at me, surprise lurking on his face. And also... desire?

"Mavis..?" His face has a questionable look and it makes me smile.

"I love you, Zeref. I don't care if your Fairy Tail's number 1 enemy. I love you." He smiles, he's blushing as he smiles and it makes me blush as well.

"Mavis, you know we can't... it's not possible." I feel my stomach and my feelings sink like a boat with a hole in it.

"I don't care." I mumble. I don't care! I still love him!

"...."

"...."

"Mavis...?"

"Yes?" I look up into his eyes again after the moment of silence, to have the gaze broken with a kiss that seems to linger on my lips even after we break apart to kiss again, and again.
