CHAPTER TEN;

DEATH IN DETENTION

Sage turned around the same corner that Aiden had dragged her away from just to see that the replica of the asshole was on the ground, Isaac Lahey standing above him looking guilty of a crime. She had to get closer to see that Ethan had blood on his face, and that from a by-passers point of view, Isaac seemed to be the only one present in the situation to be accused. She had a feeling that he wasn't the one who did it, especially after witnessing how quick Aiden tried to get away from this same hallway.

All eyes moved from Ethan and Isaac over to her, including Mr. Harris, who didn't seem pleased in the slightest to see her. She wasn't really surprised, the man practically devoted his life to ruining her's, and it was only fair that she returned the favor. His back straightened and he narrowed his eyes on Sage. "Ms. Connelly, I hope you didn't think you could skip my class all together."

"If I were skipping, why would I be coming back to your class?" Sage asked, her eyebrows raised as she gestured to her body, which was on its way back to his classroom up until the traffic jam stopped her.

Harris wasn't pleased by her answer despite the giggles that her peers made. "Well, Mr. Lahey, it seems as though you'll be having a friend in lunch detention today. Everyone back to class. Danny, can you please take him to the nurse to get him checked out?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Sage interrupted. "I'm getting detention because I don't have a controlled bladder?"

Her teacher turned around and gave a smug smile. "No. You're getting a detention because the sound of your voice makes me want to rip my eyes from their sockets. I suggest you be quiet before the entirety of your junior year is spent eating lunch with me, Ms. Connelly."

Sage glared at Harris, positive that if she were able to kill anyone in this universe, he would be the first person she went to. She was already forced to deal with him her sophomore year, and the idea of spending her junior with him as well made her want to rip her eyes from their sockets. Which is why she decided to be a good girl and shut her mouth before Harris made her spend even more time thinking of ways to murder him.

She shoved past her class, trying to ignore Scott and Isaac's eyes as she went. She didn't need them asking her any questions about what happened. More importantly, she didn't need them to see the hand print that was probably forming around her neck from Aiden's attempted — and failed — strangulation. It was doubtful that they wouldn't though, so she was just stacking up lies of which she could tell them in order to by time to find a scarf.

When Scott walked back into the classroom, he sat down in his assigned seat next to her and paused before turning. Sage snorted before letting her head drop on her arms, trying to block out the sounds of everyone around her. So far, this day as turned out to be a shit. Literally, if she could pick any day out of the week to call shit, it would be today. She didn't need to deal with finding Kyle's dead body, or Aiden's shit, or even Scott trying to play the BFF card and help her.

She just wanted to find a hole deep enough to bury herself in.

"Are you going to tell me what happened?" Scott asked, his words muffled as her arms blocked her hearing of him. That's one thing she hated about the werewolf, he always knew something was wrong. Even when there was no detection of anything being wrong, there was still something wrong.

Sage shook her head, messing her hair up in the process. "Nope."

"Are you going to tell me?"
