CHAPTER ELEVEN;

BARBIE GIRL

Sage ran her hands over her face, trying to collect her thoughts after the long day she's had. It was night time, and she was ready to go to sleep considering she nearly overdosed on pain and sleep medication. She just wanted to forget that she ever found Kyle's body, that Ashley didn't lose her boyfriend, that Harris didn't actually get taken while she was nearly dying on his floor, and most importantly, that Derek didn't get impaled with a pole into his abdomen.

When Deaton got into Harris' room, he was forced to explain what the word darach actually meant and how it was relevant. He also went into detail about why Sage was coughing up blood, saying that because she was a druid, it was her body attempting to restore balance in nature after the sacrifices. Altors, because they were the healers in the equation, were the ones being affected by the high death count.

Quite frankly, Sage didn't believe that. She didn't tell Deaton about the mistletoe either; that was another thing she chose to keep to herself for the time being. What she was really concerned about was how a dark oak was the one sacrificing people in her town; or, that's what Stiles believed was happening.

Onto the issue of Derek's impalement, when she arrived back at the loft after Deaton vaguely told them how they were essentially screwed, she found Derek and Cora lying on the ground surrounded by a puddle of blood. You can imagine all of the thoughts running though Sage's mind as she rushed in to see what happened. Of course, while Aiden and Ethan were busy ruining their lives at school, the other three members of the Alpha pack were destroying Derek's being.

Deucalion had threatened Derek into murdering one of his own pack members, which had been the same thing everyone else in the Alpha pack had to do before they could truly be accepted. Sage should know better than anyone, considering she had been present the day that Aiden and Ethan killed their pack in cold blood. She watched, and did nothing about it.

With her head still in her hands, Sage took deep breaths to try and get rid of her headache before she went to bed. Cora was already asleep, having had enough after watching her brother almost die. Sage didn't have the heart to tell the youngest Hale that it isn't going to be the only time that kind of thing will happen. If Cora was truly planning on staying, the sense of panic for the Alpha would never cease.

From downstairs, she heard the faint voices of Derek and Isaac.

Why the hell were they still awake?

Sage got out of bed, tugging down her shorts as she moved through the hallway. She was about halfway down the stairs when she finally heard the middle of the already-started conversation between the two werewolves.

Isaac was the one speaking, his voice hoarse. "I don't get it. Did something happen?"

"It's just not going to work with both of you here. I've got Cora and Sage now, it's too much. I need you out tonight," Derek replied. Sage's eyes widened and she quickly continuing walking down the final few stairs, arms crossed tightly over her chest as she stared at the Alpha.

She was livid, her headache completely discarded. "Who gave you the choice to decide who stays and who goes, Derek? This is my loft. You're the one that moved in with me, therefore I'm the one that decides whether or not Isaac leaves. Which, he's not."

"Despite what you may think, Sage, I'm the one responsible for you. I'm the adult, and I'm the one that makes the decisions that keep you safe. Right now, too many people being under one roof isn't beneficial to us. Any of us," Derek said. He knew he was being unfair, but he had to do it.
