THIRTY SEVEN;
HEART'S A MESS
"A what?"
Stiles and Scott flinched from beside the blonde and the brunette, both of them incapable of explaining their story the correct way. Neither Sage, nor Allison was present when they ended up finding the den where Malia Tate lived as well as Malia herself; in fact, neither girl had any idea who in the hell the name belonged to, much less what exactly was going on last night. Stiles frowned at Sage's response, figuring he needed to break it down as much as possible. "There was a case my dad had a few years ago about a family that got into a car accident. Apparently, coyotes had gotten to them and one of the two daughters was dragged away from the accident-"
"Which was Malia?" Allison asked, blinking a few times to make sure she was registering all of this correctly.
Stiles nodded. "Which was Malia. Last night, Scott and I went into the woods to see if we could find the dead body since, you know, we have a habit of finding them unintentially, remember?"
"Vividly," Sage muttered, remembering back to her first day back in Beacon Hills a year ago when she and Derek ended up finding only half of Laura Hale's body. The other half was discovered by the one and only, Scott McCall, which got them into this whole mess.
"And, Scott ended up seeing a coyote that we think is Malia... a werecoyote," Stiles explained, the two girls' faces immediately dropping at the revelation. "Okay, yes, I know what it sounds like, but we didn't think that Jackson could become a kanima and look what happened. Just hear us out, okay? Scott found Malia and I found her coyote den, but we went inside of it so now we're afraid that she won't come back."
Sage pursed her lips, frowning slightly. "So, you found a den?"
"We found a den," Stiles repeated, just before pulling out his phone so that he could show them the picture that he had of the trail where it was located. "It's right in the middle of the hiking trails."
"Well, that could narrow it down," Allison informed, her finger moving to race over one of the trails showed on Stiles' phone. "Coyotes travel along these trails, but I think you're right about her not going back to the den. Coyotes don't like wolves and they can be really smart if they don't want to be found. They even walk on their toes."
Stiles narrowed his eyes slightly at this, lip tugging down, dumbfounded. "Coyotes tip-toe?"
"Oh, my god," Sage huffed out at the boy, sighing deeply as she met eyes with Scott.
"Coyotes tip-toe," the brunette girl confirmed, rolling her eyes at the boy's inability to control his lack of maturity. From above them, the bell rang signalling that class was about to start, and she let out a sigh before turning to her friends. "I've got to go, but send me the pin location."
Allison quickly leaves the room, plenty aware there was no way she was going to get to her class without being late, while Stiles, Sage, and Scott all begin to move towards their seats. It was History class again, and Sage was actually dreading being back in this room considering the way everyone was looking at her. So, maybe she had a Lydia moment where she screamed in the middle of class, but that didn't mean people were granted the ability to stare at her like she was about to pull out a gun and shoot them all. Which, despite the growing irritation she felt towards high school, wasn't something she would be doing any time soon. At least, she hoped not.
