Jamie's POV

I woke up to my alarm clock ringing. Ugh, the weekend was over. I slowly sat up and yawned. I went into the bathroom, stripped and took a shower. After that I brushed my teeth, flossed and dried my hair. I put on my school uniform and brushed my wavy hair. I applied a small amount of makeup and went downstairs for breakfast.

"Dad, what's for breakfast?" I went downstairs but he wasn't there. I heard a cough from his bedroom and went back upstairs. "Dad?" I saw him, still in bed. "I'm okay, love. Just a bit under the weather." He said coughing once more. "Oh, okay, I'll make brekkie." I said going back downstairs.

I took some eggs, beans and ham out of the refrigerator and turned on the stove. I fried two eggs for my father, baked some beans and cooked some slabs of ham for him. I plated the food, grabbed a fork and took it upstairs to him. "Thank you, love." My father said sitting up and taking the plate. "Would you like some tea?" I asked.

"No, dear," He said. "You'll be late for school." "Ok, dad." I said going downstairs to eat my own breakfast.
I grabbed my backpack and headed outside hopping into the bus quickly. Jack sat next to me. "Hey, Jamie. What's this?" He said grabbing my backpack. He threw it across the aisle to his friend Geoffrey Wilkins. "Don't have your boyfriend to protect you now, huh?" Jack said grabbing a lock of my hair.

The driver didn't notice, he was to busy watching the traffic. Jack yanked on the lock of hair grasped in his and hand and I let out a small yelp. The bus stopped and a student got on. It was George. "Hey, you! Stop doin' tha'!" He said grabbing the collar of Jack's shirt.

Jack blew a hard punch to George's face. "Hey!" The driver said, finally noticing the ruckus going on back there. "Jack Thomas! Get back in your seat and leave the poor boy alone!" The driver said looking back at us.
George had a hand over his eye with a cringed expression. "Ah! It must be black and blue!" He yelled.

I shoved Jack out of the seat next to me and pulled George up and sat him there instead. Jack was about to blow a punch to my face until the driver looked back at him. Jack went to the back and grumpily slumped into a seat. I hugged George and whispered a soft, "Thank you." He took his hand off of his eye revealing a purple bruise.

I gasped. "Oh, poor George." I said looking at his injury. "I'll be fine." He said smiling. I held his hand in mine and I saw him blush. I laughed a little. "We'll tell the school nurse when we get there, George." I said pushing some of his hair behind his ear. He smiled a crooked smile at me.

Once we got there we went to the school nurse and - was it? It was! My mother was there! "Mom!" I said hugging her tight. "Hi, sweetie! I'm helping out here for a little bit." She said planting a kiss on my forehead. "Oh, mom, I missed you!" I said with a joyful smile. I suddenly remembered George's problem. "Oh, erm. My friend George got into a little... fight." I said pointing at George. "It wasn't his fault, he didn't blow a single jab. It was another guy." I said.

"I'll just get an ice pack for you, George, and you can just hold it there for a little while." The other nurse said. "Okay." George said embarrassed of his black eye. "I have to get to class, George. But I'll see you later." I said walking out of the nurses office. I owed George a lot, for a small 14 year old boy, he's pretty brave.
