Jamie's POV
Dear Diary,
I've met a lovely boy named John, he's sweet and handsome... Anyways, I think I might like him but I don't know if I should like him. He has a pretty bad reputation and he's supposed to be a Ted but... I just don't see it that way. At least not to me. He seems pretty down-to-earth from what I've seen of him. Oh, what a lovely disaster...I sat in my bed carelessly dragging my pencil across my journal, making paragraphs of my innermost thoughts and feelings until I tossed it back under my bed and went down-stairs for a glass of water. "Hello, Father." I said coming downstairs. "Hello, dear." He said looking up from his book. "And what are you doing up so late?" He asked with an eyebrow raised. "Oh, just writing, I came for some water.
"Alright, but don't wake up your brother. He has a football game tomorrow." He said looking back down at his book. "I know, Dad." I said turning on the faucet and putting my glass under it. I took a sip of the water and continued upstairs glass in hand. I went upstairs only to hear quiet knocking on my window. I yelped and almost dropped my glass. I grabbed my cricket bat and slowly walked over to the window.
I peeked over only to see... Ivan?! "What are you doing here?!" I whisper-yelled angrily. "Yeah, sorry. I just really wanted to show you something." He said showing me a poster, it read: "We are looking for a new bassist and drummer, we may also need lead guitarist, auditions are at Mendips 251 Menlove Avenue. - The QuarryMen"
I looked up at Ivan quizzically, "And, what, exactly does this have to do with me?" I asked. "You play the bass, and by god, you can play Twenty Flight Rock better than the recording. I was thinking, maybe you'd want to join." He said. "Ivan, have you forgotten that I'm a girl? This is an all-male group and even if I wasn't, they probably still wouldn't take me." I said.
"Suit yourself." He said. Then he started to laugh. "Maybe you could pretend to be a guy!" He said jokingly. "No, but, hey, anyway I gotta get going before my mom locks me out." He said pointing towards the window. I rolled my eyes. "Couldn't this have waited until morning?" I said slightly angry. He shrugged. "I guess so." He said. "But, I was bored, so. Eh, whatever." He said hopping back out of the window.
I shook my head and smiled. I thought about it for a moment, staring at that poster. But, of course I couldn't really pretend to be a guy. Could I? I asked myself suddenly. As soon as I woke up in the morning I hopped out of bed and rang Ivan. "Hello?" He said. "Hey, Ivan. I have an idea. What if I do pretend to be a guy? You can show me the ways of the men. And besides they won't let me in anyhow." I said. He was silent for a solid 11 seconds until he said.
"Jamie, I've met a lot of girls but, by far, you are the craziest." He said laughing. "Crazy enough it just might work." He said. "Yeah, I'll help you, it'll be a good prank I suppose." She said. "Okay, I'll come to your house after school, bye!" I said hanging up. I was so nervous. But also excited. What if they did let me into the band? I shuddered at the thought. No, I thought. They would never do that. Would they?
