As The Snow Blows

As the Snow Blows

The midnight stars were as clear as day

As I observed them through the window

The run-down hut in which we were stuck

Had no light of hope

Freezing in this winter, we were sleeping on the floor,

When hours later, I see the door was wide open.

A beauty above my father, his worn-away face blue

The lady came to me, and said the ice-cold words of,

"Never tell anyone of our encounter, otherwise your ending will be the same."

Fearing my life would fade, I lost my voice,

Lied to the people who asked for the truth.

Almost two decades had gone, and yet nobody knew

Of the painful childhood of mine.

My fate had altered over time

As I had been fortunate enough to find a beautiful soulmate.

Even after our ten children's birth, she still remained

As beautiful as a freshly bloomed white rose.

Until that evening I couldn't just stand by.

As she lay with her work, I finally told her.

She was the first to know.

Strangely enough, she started enquiring me with questions,

All that match up to what happened so long ago.

That was when suddenly...

She changed into the same beauty I remember to this day from so long ago.

"You have broken your word, and now you shall end!"

Till suddenly her face changed.

She fell to the ground, sobbing,

Leaving her last words as she cared so much of the time we spent.

Then suddenly, the beautiful woman I knew faded through the chimney

Never to be seen again.
