Chapter 5: Clubs, huh?

Some time passed since our first day, time that helped us make stronger bonds with our classmates, a time we had to spend solving homework... Basically, a typical student life.

My bro finally got some friends, a good amount of them, but referring to the closest one, that would be Natsuki, he talks a lot about her, about how many similar things they had, mainly the kitchen. Every time he talks about her with me, his eyes are covered with that shine, that happiness and excitement I always liked of him, which, again, brings me memories about him and the Royal Guard. And, about me and Yuri, well... She is kind and stuff, but still, she is really quiet and shy, even if I try to make her feel a little bit safer. I mean, she reminds me of Alphys in some way.

Anyway, where was I? Oh, yeah, right. Ummm...

It was a day just like every day: wake up early (a thing I don't enjoy), eat breakfast (that thing yeah), walk (that not), classes (Zzz...), lunch, classes, home... Y'know, typical boring things...

Anyway, classes ended (finally, heh) and I went to see my brother at the exit so we could go back home. And then he arrives, walking in my direction but still looking at her friends.

Irus: Goodbye Natsuki! Have a good evening and a safe trip to your home!

Sam: Sup bro.

He jumps a little, looking at me surprised.

Irus: Ahhh! Agh! Sam! You know I don't like it when you appear behind me and scare me like that!

Sam: Sorry, I just can't stop doing that, it's a part of me.

Irus: Of course it is, and more if it means to make me feel angry... Anyway, let's go home, after all, I'm the one who has to cook dinner.

Sam: you're the boss~

And so, we started our travel to our home, with the same plain-looking people walking (wonder why they are all so similar to each other...), but this time, something was different.

He didn't talk to me. Not even a single word. He just looked around, daydreaming. I mean, he always told me every detail of his day, but he was silent, kinda out. I try to look at him and try to talk a little bit.

Sam: Brother? ... Irus... Bro~

He finally gets out of his trance and looks at me.

Irus: Ah-! Oh, sorry, Sam, I was just... Thinking a little...

Sam: About what, exactly?

He suddenly looks at the other side, clearly blushed and nervous.

Irus: Well... Ah... N-Nothing special...

Sam: Let me guess: you like Natsuki, right?

Irus stops and looks at me even more nervous than before.

Irus: H-How did you--

I put my hand on his shoulder.

Sam: I'm your brother. I watched you since we were kids and I had to take care of you for a long time, I know you even more than you think.

He looks a little scared about what I said (sorry bro...), then smiles a little bit.

Irus: Well... Maybe I could tell you... But, don't laugh about it, ok?

Sam: I won't, don't worry.

...

The conversation carried on for a long time, so long that we ended up talking in our home. I sat on the sofa while he starts to prepare everything for dinner.

Irus: And, well, she invited me to the literature club. I thought it might be a good idea, I mean, it could be great to spend more time with her, and I could learn more about poetry. But, I wanted to ask you first.

Sam: Well, there's nothing bad about that, I mean, it can be a good idea. and I could join too if you want.

He looks at me, smiling excitedly.

Irus: Really!? You would do that for me!?

Sam: of course, you're my bro and I would never say no to you-

Without noticing it, he hugs me really happy.

Irus: Thank you! Thank you so much! I-I don't know what I would do without you...!

Sam: Me neither bro, me neither...

Bro... No matter where we are... No matter if we may not be able to go back home, I'll do my best to make you feel happy. I'll do my best to protect you.

He then releases me but looks at my eyes kinda pissed.

Irus: But don't ruin it with your puns.

Sam: I don't promise anything.

Irus: Agh, I knew you would say that...
