"You're alive?!" My dad yelled through the phone immediately. I glanced at Colby before even thinking of responding.
"Uh, yeah. Sorry I didn't call or anything." I was biting my lip nervously. My dad would be the one to storm over here with a huge army if he knew about my vampirism. How would we tell him?
"Your mother said there was something different about you she couldn't quite put her finger on." Instant anxiety. What has she told him? Would she really rat me out like that?
"No, there's nothing different. I guess I was just kinda tired." I was playing with Colby's fingers to keep myself calm and could hear a few mumbles from the others telling me what to say. I was ignoring them, though.
"Well I hope I see you soon!" He exclaimed sounding more angry than before. Great, now that he knows I'm okay he feels the need to yell at me. "Text me tomorrow and we'll arrange something. Daytime. None of your buddies." I held in a breath. Of course he'd say that.
"No, no, I can't do that." I replied quicker than I really should have. I was panicking and I knew it. "The two vampires are still after me, I'm safest at this house even in daytime." There was a long pause of awkwardness and for me, pain. He wasn't going to come here so...
"I mean it, Ness. Tomorrow daytime. Come back to your place, it's safer there, surely." Before I could object, he ended the call. I growled deep in my throat angrily and threw my phone at the beanbag.
"Can't listen to anything I fucking say." I grumbled to myself more than the others. They were giving me sympathetic looks and Sam was clearly thinking. He's the brains of the group so let's see his master plan.
"You're not going to be able to show. He'll know immediately that you're a vampire if you can't get into your own damn apartment." Sam explained as he shuffled to be more comfortable beneath Kat. "But if you don't show, what will he do?"
"Come here." I stated simply. He'd find a way to figure out where I am then shift his and his friends' asses down here to interrogate me. Then he'd see the new blue ring around my eyes and I'd be screwed.
"No matter what he finds out." Corey added. He gave me a look then sighed and leaned back. "It's up to you and Colby what you do so you'll have to discuss that with each other."
"Later." I sighed and leaned back into my boyfriend's chest, my face snuggling into his neck. He gently rubbed my side then settled in his seat as well. We were almost lying down. A few moments later, I tuned into Aaron's conversation with Tori.
"Yeah, I'm sure." She said with a little laugh that sounded quite cute. She stood up from her chair. "They seem pretty cool."
"Oh, you don't know them." I could imagine Aaron was shaking his head as he got up from his seat. "And there's a lot more than the three you met in there."
"I'm going to have to meet your friends at some point! So why not start now?" She questioned him. Her voice sounded like she was smiling. There were a few dish clatters then footsteps approaching the door. Everyone looked at each other with a smirk.
"Alright then." Aaron sounded defeated but also amused. He lowered his voice so only we would hear. "Do not scare her off."
