When I got home after school, I quickly ran to my room. I was going to call Hannah, and tell her about what she missed at school. I was also curious as to why she didn't come to school.

I grabbed my phone, and dialed the number that I knew off by heart. The phone rung a couple times before Hannah answered.

"Hello?' She answered, sounding uninterested.

"Hannah!" I answered. "Where were you today?" I asked, coming out a little meaner than intended.

"I was sick, okay?! Don't yell at me." She snapped. I was suprised because Hannah was usually calm and collected. She hardly ever yelled.

"Hannah, listen," I started. "I didn't-"

"Whatever. Gotta go." She hung up. This did NOT go as planned.

"Ugh!" I threw my phone back on my desk in frustration and laid down on my bed. I laid there for a while, just thinking. Hopefully Hannah will forgive me. I mean, I didn't intend to yell at her.

"Avery!" My mom called. "Dinner!"

I woke up the next morning at 7:42. Crap, I was gonna be late! I got dressed and ate as quickly as I could, managing to leave at a record time of 7:50. I got to school at 8:00, just about 15 minutes before the bell. Phew, I wasn't late. I got out my books from my locker, not sure to expect Hannah to be waiting for me.

I waited alone for what seemed like 15 minutes, impatiently drumming my fingers on my math book as I waited for the familiar bell to ring. I checked the clock. 8:04. Why does time seem to go so damn slow?!

Just then I saw Vanessa walk down the hallway. She stopped a couple feet in front of me and waved, a huge smile on her face. "Hey." I replied, not feeling like trying to free one of my hands trapped under my math book.

We started talking about random topics, from school work to stupid TV shows. Just then, Hannah walked down the hallway, pulling the biggest fake smile I have ever seen. Uh oh. Without her saying a word, I could' just tell she was pulling an 'I'm mad at you but gonna pretend to be nice and get you into a lot of crap' attitude. She smiled at me with the most fake expression you could possibly pull off. and proceeded to walk, stopping in front of Vanessa. Boy, this girl can really hold a grudge. I was scared, I mean Hannah could be most scary person when she wanted to.

"Hey, I don't recognize you, so you must be the new girl. I'm Hannah. You are?" Hannah said sweetly, the artificial smile not leaving her face.

"I'm... Vanessa." Vanessa answered nervously, I guess Hannah seemed kind of intimidating. Hannah offered her hand, and Vanessa shook it hesitantly.

"Nice to meet you." Hannah mumbled, obviously annoyed that Vanessa was shy.

"Well I'll see you later. I got to go off to the bathroom. Gotta fix my makeup. See ya, Vanessa and Avery." Hannah bounded off to the bathroom. Weird, Hannah never wears makeup. I was so deep in thought that I didn't realize Vanessa was repeatedly tapping my shoulder, trying to get my attention.

"Sorry." I told her. "I zoned out."

"So, you and Hannah are friends, right? Wait no, you seem like best friends. She seemed kinda off. Almost like she was mad... Are you guys in a fight? Oh no! I guess that's why she seemed kinda upset, and mad. I hope I can help!" Vanessa said with a frown.

I stood there, mind blown. Hannah had said one word to me, and it was my own name! How could she tell we were in a fight, was she a mind reader? It seemed like she had some sort of psychic ability... Wow. I think I'm going crazy.

(Author's note) Sorry that this chapter is really short. I just wanted to upload it. The next few will be noticably longer, I promise.

Sorry this story is kind of slow, it might take me a while to update sometimes because I have school related stuff and another story that I'm working on.
