Fayette was surprised to see her family already waiting for her in her chambers. Rhyannon smiled gently at her daughter, a heavy heart for unknowingly causing her baby's pain. Oberon nodded while Kailen grinned sheepishly.
"Fayette- " Drake started to talk but she cut him off. "I know why now. I'm sorry for acting so rashly."
The queen felt proud of her daughter's calmness and mind. It has really shown how Fayette has matured and grown. She could feel herself tearing up at the though of her baby all so grown up.
"My love, are you okay?" Orion's eyes filled with worry as he stared at his soulmate. She only nodded in response as she couldn't find the words to say anything.
"Aw sis, you made mom cry." Kailen laughed. It was his ability to make the situation light and to bring a small laugh that made Fayette appreciate him. Drake only smacked the back of his head. The princess laughed a little at her family's antics.
She truly understood now why they had to lie. It may have hurt her but she knew that by doing so, it had made her life and his sanity a little easier. Oberon gave her a small smile and gestured for her to come near. Fayette did so and she was enveloped in a hug. A hug that warmed her heart as well as her soul.
A family's touch will always be welcomed, for if will always be the thing that you will want most in a gloomy night. Kailen, Drake and Rhyannon joined in the hug, happy and contented.
"I think someone wants to talk to you," Drake said as he glanced at Alexander by the door. The queen smiled at the vampire who loved her daughter dearly. The bond was there the moment he laid his eyes on her, and Rhyannon knew that. Unfortunately, fate was cruel on him. They all left the room after a few affectionate hugs and kisses.
"Alex," Fayette gave him a small smile. "Hello, little fairy." The vampire greeted sadly. It was too soon. He had regretted not telling her for he knew that maybe even a year with her would would have been worth it.
Fayette didn't know what to say. It was Alex, her rock, her best friend. Maybe if she had actually opened up to the idea of dating, she would've picked him a long time ago. But she knew her mate had her soul and all of her heart. She didn't know it then, but she knows now that only her mate had the key to her heart.
"So you've met him, huh." Alex felt a small pang of pain. He knew she was never anyone's to take but it didn't stop him from falling. "Is he what you imagined your mate would be?"
Fayette laughed, "He's a brute." The vampire grinned,"He is."
Then he was serious.
"Fayette, this is time for goodbye." He gulped down the pain that this will do to him. "I have to let you go." A tear rolled down his cheek. It was too painful to bear, but he knew he must leave to forget the love he had bore for his chosen.
"I'm sorry," Fayette said sincerely. Her heart hurts. She knew that he had to erase all the feelings he had. It was selfish but she wished he would stay and be her best friend. "Alex, I-I love you with all my heart. I understand. But please, at least tell me if you're okay."
The vampire didn't know if he could do that. He wished he could but his heart would come running back to his chosen. "I will once I forget."
Fayette let out a little sob. This was really time for goodbye. She couldn't bear the thought of a life without Alex. Playful, goofy and ever loving Alex. "Okay." But she knew it was for his own good. The pain she felt know couldn't compare to the scorching pain that Alexander is feeling.
"I hope you find her."
Mate. The one thing that had made him rabid. He couldn't understand why the goddess has let their fates intertwine. He had lived for so long, seeing everyone that he knew getting the thing he wanted most.
"I do too."
But not too soon.
His heart was still beating for another. He couldn't let his mate feel the pain that he is going through. She doesn't deserve it.
Then with shaking arms, she engulfed him in a warm embrace. The warmth that he will try to remember as they will part ways. Alexander loved her too much it was hard to let go, but he could sense the smell of the king of lycans.
Apollo wanted to crush the vampires limbs but he pitied him at the same time. He knew Alexander had taken a liking to his mate but he didn't know how deeply he had loved her. His lycan snarled in his mind. It wasn't too keen on anyone touching his mate.
"Goodbye."
Then he was gone.
Apollo felt a pang in his heart and knew it was her pain. The lycan went inside only too see his mate in tears. The sight of her shaking, the sound of her cries has made his own heart break. The sadness poured into the bond unknowingly. It made him realize just how much the vampire had meant to her. He couldn't take it anymore and took her in his big frame. "Mate, please do not cry." He gently rubbed his hand up and down her back.
Fayette didn't know what to do. Alex was her best friend. It was him who helped her go through sadness, the loneliness. But what did she do in return? Pain.
How could she be so selfish as to ask for communication. She gripped on to her mate's warmth. A comfort that soothed her pain and ceased her cries gradually.
After an hour, she was just seeking the relief that their bond can give. "Fayette," he cupped her cheek gently. It was good, so good to hear her name from his mouth. "It's okay to be worried about him, but he will be alright."
Fayette stared at his silver eyes that gazed at her with such softness. She nodded and looked at the time. It was about two in the morning.
Apollo kissed her forehead, "rest well,my love." He stood up and smiled at her. "I'll see you later."
Fayette gripped the tip of his shirt.
"Stay."
