He awoken to the buzz of machines around him. Slowly opening his eyes, Thomas looked around. The place he was in was full of white-coat doctors hurrying around, looking to his right Thomas saw a row of people- all kids.
Thomas tried to move, but his arms were held in place with metal bands which bit into his skin, the same things were holding his legs in place. The place seemed familiar, Thomas thought as he struggled against his restraints.
With a jolt he whipped his head round to the person nearest, realisation dawned upon him. The people in the room were all kids, except the doctors or scientists as Thomas realised. He felt a sense of dread as he realised where he was- back at WCKD.
He opened his mouth to talk to the person nearest, hastily closing it when he saw the person looked like a corpse, but they were still breathing. Behind the eyelids Thomas could see the person's eyes moving.
"What the hell?.." He mumbled, whatever WCKD was up to it was never anything good. Thomas struggled against his restraints again, his throat felt tight with panic.
After all this time Thomas had thought he was safe, that WCKD would never find him. He thought he could be happy with his friends in the safe haven. Now he had been captured again, Thomas had had enough, his hands balled into fists, he shouted at the top of his lungs. "WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM ME?! YOU TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME! YOU'RE THE REASON NEWT'S DEAD!" He choked out a sob, he would never get over the death of his best friend.
Thomas looked up as the sound of heels tapping along the floor, his eyes were blurry with tears as he looked at the woman dressed in a white lab coat, her hair was in a neat bun. "T-Teresa?.." Thomas spoke, having to blink in order to clear his vision.
The woman spoke with an unfamiliar voice, "No Thomas, Teresa is dead. My name is Doctor Christensen. I do hope my men didn't do any damage to you, although I must say it was unexpected that you would notice them. The bat was a variable I had not anticipated, no matter. It is time for your final variable Thomas. We need to analyse how your brain reacts to people from your past. In order to achieve that- you are going to have to be patient with us and close your eyes for just a moment."
Thomas was lost for words. The woman made little sense, he didn't know anyone from his past before the maze. He felt something sharp pierce the skin on his wrist, something sticky was attached to his temples, he felt a slight buzz of electricity. "W-What's going on?.." He mumbled-no response.
