Eddie woke fully clothed and disoriented. Where was he? Where was Chee? The last thing he remembered was sitting on the sidewalk, crying on Richie's shoulder. Sitting up, he surveyed the room. It was Bill's guest room. "How the hell did I get here?" he said aloud, pushing the blankets off him and standing up.

He opened the door and heard low voices downstairs. He walked down the stairs quietly and turned to the kitchen. Richie, Bill, and Mr. and Mrs. Denbrough were sitting at the kitchen table, talking. "Morning," he said quietly, and they all looked up. "Morning Eddie Spaghetti!" Richie said happily with a large smile. "Hello, Eddie. My husband and I have decided to let you and Richie stay for as long as you need," Mrs. Denbrough said. Eddie's eyes filled with tears of gratitude as he walked over and hugged her.

"Thank you so much!" he said, pulling away. "It's nothing. I'm sure you've had to deal with enough homophobic people, huh?" "Where's my hug, Eds?" Richie demanded playfully. Eddie giggled and gave Richie a hug too, kissing his cheek softly. "There. Are you happy now, Chee?" he teased. "Very."

They ate a hurried breakfast and got ready for school. They were late, but at least they were going. Eddie kept Richie's hoodie on. It was soft and warm and smelled like him, which was comforting. They rode their bikes, scattering the dead leaves spread over the road. They were all silent. Zoned out. Eddie was so deep in thought that when he went by a red balloon tied to the storm drain, it took him a good five seconds to comprehend what he'd seen.

Richie had stopped by the storm drain. Tears had started streaming down Bill's face; this was the storm drain Pennywise had taken Georgie in. Eddie approached the balloon cautiously. There was an envelope addressed to The Losers Club tied to it. Eddie took it with shaking fingers and opened it. He read aloud, "24 more years, Losers. He'll be back, and I'll be helping too. Have a nice life till then! -HB" The childlike scrawl seemed very familiar.

"Give it to me, Eddie," Richie said, voice shaking slightly as he held out his hand for it. Eddie obeyed immediately. Richie read it over again silently, eyes widening in horror. "HB. Henry Bowers," Richie whispered. That was why the writing was familiar. Henry was constantly writing crude things on his and the other Loser's lockers.

Eddie walked over to where Richie was and grabbed his hand. Richie squeezed it tightly. They stood there for a while, both trembling, while Bill cried. Eddie had not been able to take a steady breath in over a minute, and began hyperventilating. Richie immediately handed him the inhaler he carried in his pocket just in case. Eddie pressed it to his lips and took a breath; it was a relief. They all slowly got back on their bikes, the silence shocked and terrified this time.

Richie was deep in thought. He couldn't bear the thought of losing his everything, his world. Eddie. He made a promise to himself: That clown wouldn't get anywhere NEAR Eddie if he could help it. Never again would Eddie suffer or get hurt because of It, physically or emotionally. They made it to school around 11:45 a.m. The silence remained as they walked numbly to their classes, trying to forget what had just happened.
