LOSER Chapter 24

A few minutes later, they had checked into their hotel and went to the room to unpack their stuff. When they opened the door, Eddie gasped. The room was all white in contrast to the incredible view outside. The bed was a king size, covered in fluffy pillows and soft blankets. There was a kitchenette with marble counters, and he was really excited to see the bathroom. There was a large glass window that could open to go out on the balcony and admire the view of the ocean.

"Wow," he said quietly, looking over at Richie, who had the same look of awe on his face. They unpacked their clothes and put them in the dresser next to the bed; one drawer for Eddie and another for Richie. Eddie piped up, "I have to use the bathroom before we go anywhere, okay?" "Okay." Richie looked distracted; he was gazing out the window, transfixed by the view.

Eddie hurried to the bathroom and opened the door. It was very pristine and all white except for the taps; they were gold. The tub was a Jacuzzi; that would be fun to use later. He did his business and washed his hands quickly. When he came back out, Richie had changed into swimming shorts and did not have a shirt on. 

Eddie froze, staring at his husband's abs. "Uhhh........" He was stunned speechless and could feel the heat rushing into his face. "Damn, you're pale. Good thing it's always sunny here; you need a tan," he said, as a way of covering up his avid staring. "You liar. You were staring at my abs," Richie said with a chuckle.

Eddie blushed furiously. "Was not!" he said loudly. "Were too!" "Was not!" "Were too!" "Was not!" Richie pounced on top of Eddie, who was by the bed. Eddie fell on top of it. "Cheeeeee!!!!" he complained. "Eeeeeeddddsss!!!!!" Richie said right back. Eddie stuck his tongue out at his husband, struggling to get away. "Let me go, Chee!" he exclaimed with a giggle. "Yeah no," Richie replied. "I prefer to watch you be flustered about the fact that I'm on top of you. It's quite adorable, actually." 

Eddie blushed even more at this. "Shut up and get off me please!" "Nope!" Eddie groaned. Then he got an idea. He leaned up and kissed Richie's neck. Richie froze for a moment. Eddie continued with his plan by placing his hands on Richie's waist and kissing his mouth. Won over, Richie kissed him back. Eddie sat up, forcing Richie up with him. They continued kissing for a bit, then Eddie pulled away.

"You did that on purpose," Richie accused, blushing a bit at how easily Eddie had won him over. "I had to do it. You were crushing me!" Eddie teased. "Can we go swimming now, Eds?" Richie asked, a childlike look of excitement coming over his face. "Yes, let's go! Oh, wait... I need to change." "Okay, I won't look." "Oh, I know you will anyway, so I'm going to change in the bathroom."

After he finished changing, Richie put on a shirt for the sake of the others in the hotel. Eddie grabbed two towels, sunblock, and food, and they headed out. "Wait, did you grab the key?" Eddie asked frantically. "Yep. Stuck it in my pocket." "Give it to me. I'm putting it in the bag so we don't lose it." "Okay. Here." Richie handed the key over to Eddie. He trusted Eddie more with it anyway.

At the beach

Eddie shrieked as Richie splashed him. "You're gonna pay for that!" he yelled, chasing Richie down. They were getting stared at by the tourists, some laughing at the men's antics, others looking disgusted. Eddie finally caught up with his husband and wrapped his arms around Richie's waist from behind. He kissed Richie's neck softly. "Caught ya," he murmured. Richie laughed, turning around. "You are one terrifying little monster, aren't you?" he said. Suddenly, Richie picked Eddie up and started walking toward the water.

"RICHARD TOZIER, PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!!!!" Eddie screamed, knowing what Richie was about to do. "EDWARD TOZIER, STOP YELLING AT ME!!!!" Richie yelled right back. Eddie squirmed desperately. Too late. Richie tossed him into the sea. Eddie came up sputtering and swearing furiously. "RICHIEEEEE!!!" "WHAAAAAT?!?!?" Eddie flung himself at Richie and attempted to wrestle him into the water.

"Ha! You tried!" Richie exclaimed, dodging the attempt easily. "Beep beep Richie," Eddie growled. Richie stopped. "You haven't said that since we were, like, six!" Richie exclaimed, trying not to laugh. "I used it to say you were going too far. Why d'you think I did it now?" Richie looked at him, horrified. "I upset you, didn't I?" he asked. "A little..." "No no no!! I'm so sorry Eds! I never meant to make you upset! Please forgive me!" Richie said frantically, cupping Eddie's face in his hands.

Eddie blushed a little and said, "It's okay, really! I wasn't that upset." They swam for a little while longer, having a lot of fun. They went to an ice cream shop when they got tired of swimming. Eddie ordered a plain soft serve vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles, and Richie got a strawberry milkshake with two straws. After Eddie finished his cone, Richie said, "Want some of this? I got two straws so we could share." "Sure! Thanks Chee!" They finished the milkshake and went to the playground to watch the little kids. They loved to do this; it brought back many memories.

When Eddie began to yawn, Richie said, "Tired? Let's go back to the hotel." "Mkay..." Eddie was looking so sleepy that Richie scooped him up in his arms. Eddie snuggled into him, burying his face into Richie's warm chest. After showering and getting changed, Eddie dove into the soft, large bed happily. Richie joined him a few minutes later, wrapping his arms around his considerably shorter and smaller husband.

Richie kissed Eddie's head softly and murmured, "The day I met you, my life changed... the way you make me feel is hard to explain. You make me smile more every day, sleep a little more peacefully every night, and everywhere in between, you're on my mind." Eddie smiled. "New poem?" "Kind of. It's a work in progress." "I love it. Just like I love you. More and more all the time." 

"Goodnight Eds. I love you to the moon and back," Richie whispered. "Goodnight Chee. Thanks for making this day so amazing. Love you more," Eddie whispered back. They fell asleep quickly, happy to be together after the long first day of their honeymoon.
