Time has gone by slowly these past few weeks. Minutes felt like hours and days felts like years. Genya trudged through the school halls, now finally a sophomore in college. It's been a rough end of freshman year and summer, not to mention he recently transferred schools.
His new campus wasn't very far from his old one but it was nicer, bigger too.

He heard laughter , various voices ahead but ignored them, continuing on to his dorm. He already met his new roommate but not his neighboring ones, maybe they'll be in tonight.
Making his way onto the elevator he pressed the button for the second floor, his room just to the right of where he'd be getting off.
His dorm was small compared to the others but he liked it that way, it made it a cozier place. The elevator did take its sweet time only going up one floor, about what he assumed was half-way there he could hear new voices coming from above. One sounded oddly familiar but he once again, ignored them.

Hearing a ding the doors opened, signaling he reached his floor. Stepping out he glanced to his left, then to his right nearly forgetting where his room was. Taking a few steps he began the quick move to his door.
Behind him he heard a door open.
'Ah, neighbors are here now.' Forcing a smile he turned around to greet them and introduce himself, wanting to make a good impression.
The face greeting him was all too familiar, he smile quickly turned into a shocked mess. The whole reason he's been depressed, the reason he moved schools. Why? Why here? Why now, when he hasn't healed yet.

Tanjirou Kamado. The boy with burgundy hair and light, usually kind eyes stared back at him with disgust. "Can I help you?"

"I-I , um." The raven haired boy stammered, at a loss for words.

Two unfamiliar faces stepped out behind Tanjirou, a blond boy and another black-haired boy.
"Do you know him Tanjirou?" The boy with black hair had curiosity but also caution spilled across his face. He slung an arm around Tanjirou's shoulders.

Genya felt his already fast beating heart explode, this time not with excitement of nervousness seeing this familiar face, but with sadness.

"No Inosuke, I've never met him before." He grabbed onto Inosuke's hand and pulled him in another direction, the blonde one following closely behind.

"Maybe another lost freshman?" Inosuke snickered as they made their way onto the elevator.

Genya hurriedly entered his room, already feeling tears well up. Thank god his roommate was out for the night at a welcome party.
He clutched his chest as he sank to the floor, back against the door, hands shaking as he let out quiet shaky sobs.

That burgundy hair, once a comforting, warm sight, now feeling like a harsh flame against his heart. Genya looked down to the floor, placing his hands out in front of him. He could vividly remember at one point using these hands to hold Tanjirou, comforting him as he was in a similar state.
His large hands would stroke his hair as sobs raked his body. He would reassure him things would get better, and he was right, things did get better but only in return for things going sour for Genya himself.

Hours might have gone by, maybe just minutes. Genya reached for his phone in his left pocket, unlocking it. He opened up his contacts list, while he might have deleted everything else, the photos, messages, shared statuses, one thing remained.
His fingers hovered over Tanjirou's contact information, his name no longer special, no emojis, just a name and number.
