Chapter 10: I'm Invincible

To enable the defenders a chance at driving off the invaders, Pierce heroically risked his own life and destroyed two siege ladders. Fei felt moved by Pierce's sacrifice. Fortunately, at the last second, he saved Pierce's life by throwing a living person as a weapon, a most unorthodox method.

"Hu–Hu–Hu ——–"

Wielding the massive double handed axe with a great amount of force, Fei quickly severed enemy warriors in his way.

"Impressive work, Sir Warrior. As second commander of the King's guards - Brook, you may call me -, I wanted to thank you for your aid." But, who are you? I've never seen you before...", Black haired Brook exclaimed in surprise and relief, as Pierce was now safe. He was struggling as well, still fighting the skilled enemy from earlier.

The unexpected savior shifted the subtle balance on the battlefield. Hope finally arrived for the Chambordian soldiers.

"Commander Brook? Haha, you will soon find out!"

However, Fei refused to reveal his identity to the soldiers just yet.

After his excursion in the Diablo world, the killing, screaming, violence and blood of war became trivial. The two worlds were identical for Fei. As he emerged on the battlefield, he unhesitatingly charged into enemy soldiers, immediately fighting without thought.

Moreover, the sight had excited Fei.

Everyone dreamed of becoming a superhero and protecting the citizens of their countries, when they were young, eventually saving the day and becoming a symbol of respect and reverence amongst those citizens. Now Fei could live his childhood dream. Although his axe was harvesting the lives of many people, he felt no remorse.

Killing others was saving his own. It was as simple as that on the battlefield.

Fei withdrew as he protected the soldiers carrying Pierce off the defence wall, then returned to the front lines.

The opponent was powerless in front of the raw strength and sophisticated axe skills of a level 5 barbarian, as ordinary soldiers. The enemies roared as Fei approached the last siege ladder. His axe hurtled through the air, as bloody light glistened off of the axes blade.

The remaining enemies rushed to the ladder to protect it and screamed as Fei shoved them off of the defence wall and smashed them into the ground with a powerful horizontal strike.

So powerful that it went even further.

"Slam!"

As Fei completed the strike, his axe slammed into the battlement of the defence wall.

The one foot (30 cm) thick battlement collapsed onto the enemies outside of the castle. Dust and sparks flew everywhere.

The siege ladder secured onto the battlement disappeared with it. The ladder spun in mid-air with enemies still clutching onto it and crashed into the Zuli moat hundreds of yards (meters) away.

"Such strength!"

Fei baffled everyone on the battlefield.

This new reinforcement greatly boosted Chambord's morale. Their chance of winning soared to new heights. On the other hand, Fei terrified the enemies. No one in their right mind wanted to face him.

But Fei didn't cease there. His next move expanded the power and effect of individual heroism on the battlefield.

"King's soldiers, rise and fight! For our kingdom! For our fathers and mothers! For our wives and children!"

After successfully destroying the siege ladder, he raised his gigantic axe. As the soft golden light of the sunset encompassed his figure, he roared with the poise of an invincible god.

Suddenly, an invisible, yet vehement force spread from Feis roar. Like a tsunami, it brutally overwhelmed and crashed into the enemy.

As if they witnessed something horrifying, all the enemy soldiers within five yards (meters) of Fei dropped their weapon on the ground and screamed, scurrying away from Fei as fast as they could. Several were so frightened they launched themselves off the two hundred feet (60 meters) wall.

Barbarians Warcry – 【Howl】.

This roar scared away most of the enemies standing close to Fei. The mysterious powers of the Diablo world had finally appeared in this world. Of course, only Fei knew where this power originated from.

This stunned everyone.

"What kind of power was that?!"

"Gods!"

Silence settled on the defence wall.

Under the golden sunset light, uncontainable hope and rejoicement threatened to explode from the soldiers of Chambord.

Finally —

Someone subconsciously cheered after Fei: "Battle! For our kingdom and families!"

This acclamation ignited the crowd, like a tiny spark onto a pond of gasoline.

All a sudden, the soldiers of Chambord felt their blood burn like an unstoppable flame.

"Fight!"

"Defend! For our homeland!"

"Attack! Kill! Battle!!!"

The propelling chants released a spectacular force. Like the most compelling magic, it instantly spread around the battlefield.

Every soldier of Chambord joined in with their own encouraging roars.

Morale skyrocketed!

A wounded soldier removed the barbed arrow from his shoulder and stood resolutely. A farmer with an amputated leg crawled to an enemy and bit his thigh. An elder, his heart pierced by a sword, stabbed his knife into the enemy's skull in his last breath.

Fei's roar had empowered every Chambordian soldier, giving them unprecedented strength.

The advantage quickly shifted.

After losing the siege ladders, no enemy soldiers could climb the defensive walls. Moreover, the enemy soldiers on the wall could not escape. These warriors almost fainted. They screamed as they spun around and dashed away from the defenders threatening blades. Jumping off of the high wall didn't seem like a bad idea anymore...

At least leaping off of the wall offered a minuscule chance of living!

Staying there, these suddenly rallied defenders wouldn't spare them a chance. They would experience worse than just dying – several severely wounded soldiers had bitten one of the invaders to death!

This was war.

"He must be a hero!"

Star ranked, even moon ranked warriors and mages were able to kill numerous enemies, but few people were referred to by others as heroes. They motivated everyone around them. Every action, word, and expression in their eyes brought hope and bravery to their followers.

Fei accidentally became the hero of Chambord.

After 【Howl】, Fei went back to massacring the enemies. Broken swords, spears and armours covered the ground. Everywhere, enemies cried, crippled, and died.

With invincible momentum, Fei approached the climax of this battle.
