"dad what are you doing here?" kj repeated herself.
"apparently saving your company since you're busy making out with boys" mr.iohnson said.
"mr. johnson, i'm nicholas mara. pleasure to meet you" nick extended his hand.
"you may go now" the man said without shaking nick's hand.
nick gave kj a looking saying "it's ok" and made his way out leaving the father and daughter alone.
"you didn't have to be such a dick" kj rolled her eyes as she grabbed the cameras she needed.
"kenny you have a whole company to run and you're playing around with boys"
"i'm allowed to have fun dad"
"i agree, after you save this wreck of a studio and start making some actual income"
"i don't understand why that even matters, you didn't care when mom was alive. then all of a sudden you have this new found interest in it. this place does a lot for the surrounding neighborhood children. they can find actual help here" kj began to yell.
"do not raise your voice at me. i have to start caring about this place, if i let you worry about it alone it'll be gone in less than a year."
"dad, i would love to have this conversation with you another time but i'm currently really busy. i'll have alice pencil you in" kj smiled.
"no worries, i'll be here monday and wednesday's to oversee the company from now on".
"you can't do this" kj pursed her lips.
her father cross his arms as he stood in front of her.
"ever since mom died you've put your nose in everything that doesn't concern you. you only care about money. who even are you?" kj walked out of the room and slammed the door behind her.
she walked back down where the whole group was. her anger was evident.
"what's up your ass?" trinity laughed.
kj dropped the cameras down and walked back out of the room to hide away.
"her dad just caught us upstairs about to– her dad was just upstairs" nick said.
"her dad? fuckkkk. okay i'll be back in like ten minutes" trinity said to the boys before making her way out.
there was only two places kennedy james would hide when she wanted to be alone. unfortunately for her, trinity knew both of those locations.
"kj" trin walked into the closet in kj's office.
"i don't want to talk" she muttered.
"i'm not here to talk, i just wanted to make sure you're ok" her friend smiled.
"i just don't get it. he has a whole job to worry about and he's here up in my business. mom would have never let him do any of this"
"but she's not here anymore, so why don't you just try to see what he wants. maybe he just wants to hang out with you. ya know you're like his daughter or sumthin"
"who's side are you on?" kj snarled.
"always yours, you know that. i'm just tryin to make some sense out of it" trin explained.
"i remember saying i don't wanna talk, so if you don't mind" kj rolled her eyes.
"fine. but we still have a class to teach so get your ass up and stop sobbing like you have a horrible life" trinity stood up from the floor and stormed out.
yes kj was acting like a brat, she knew it. but her feelings were valid in the moment. she went from being able to do whatever she wanted to being monitored by her father.
kj wipes her tears and walked back down to the dance room where kids were already stretching.
"hi ms.kj" nate smiled as he hugged her legs.
"hi buddy, what are you here for?"
"for class duh"
"but this is advanced nate"
"yeah but i was outside and he told me i should come and dance with him" nate pointed at a boy across the room.
kj turned her head to see nick waving at the two of them. she gave a small smile before turning her head back towards the little boy who now held her hand.
"fine you can stay but stay near me at all time please" kj asked of the boy.
nate nodded his head and leaned against kj as he waited for class to start.
"y'all ready for this?" trinity yelled as she hopped up on stage.
the class hollered with cheers of excitement.
"alright good because we have the artist of this song in the building tonight so y'all don't have an option but to kill it tonight" trin laughed as the boys waved at the class. ___________ instagram
