the past few weeks were good for kennedy and nick. they were going on dates and spending more time together at the dance studio.
"so where's your dad been?" nick asked.
"he went to minnesota for a firefighter conference" kj said.
"he's a firefighter???"
"yeah why do you think he has so much time off, he works a 24 hour shift, and then he's off for 48 hours"
"has he taught you anything because of his job?" nick asked.
"oh you know, don't run into a burning building, how to give cpr, how to shoot a gun" kj went on.
"how to shoot a g–gun?" nick stuttered.
"i'm joking silly, he didn't teach me how to do that. but my uncle did" she smiled.
ever since becoming a thing, kj had agreed to nick's initial idea of having the boys come into the studio once a week to do choreo. it was getting a lot of attention from investors who liked the image it gave the band.
"hey so after class next friday, would you want to go out and grab some food?" nick asked as he helped kj clean the mirror in the dance room.
"next friday?" kj clarifies.
nick nodded his head.
"i'm actually going to new york next week, i fly out that friday"
"oh, no worries. what are you going for?" he asked curiously.
"i would tell you but it's sort of stupid and i honestly don't even know why i'm doing it" kj shook her head.
"oh come on just tell me" he pleaded.
"uh fine, i'm going to new york to audition for victoria secret's fashion show" kj blurted.
"you- i didn't know you modeled"
"i mean i've never thought about doing it for real, but my old friend from college told me to try it out so i said okay" she smiled.
"well i think you're insanely gorgeous and i know you'll get the job" nick comforted her with a hug.

kennedy was enjoying her time in NYC with her new friends. she had met gigi during her freshman year of college, and the two had always liked each others company.
kj would never do this on her own and gigi knew that, which is why she pushed her to come out with her.
"kj you'll love this italian place in new jersey we're going to tonight" gigi said.
"new jersey? that's a whole other state" kj scrunched her brows.
"baby it's only a one hour train ride relax" gigi laughed with the rest of her friends.
all 5 models hoped on a train to new jersey and made their way to the restaurant.
"i thought models had to diet and shit" kj whispered to gigi.
"no we still eat we just throw it up after" gigi responded.
kj's face went pale, her eyes widened. the look on her face made it evident that she was rethinking this whole thing.
"kj, babe i'm kidding. omg i'm sorry i didn't think you'd take me seriously. never make yourself throw up. we just work with a nutritionist so that the carbs turn into weight gain" gigi laughed.
kj giggled feeling a bit weird at the "joke". the girls took a seat at the cute little hole in the wall restaurant.
"hello ladies, my name is debb–" the lady began to say before cutting herself short when her eyes fell onto kj.
"kennedy james" the lady said.
"umm yes, hi"
"you don't even know how much nick talks about you to me" the lady laughed.
"you know nick?"
"honey, he's my son"
"well this is a bit awkward" one of the models said.
"shut up stacy" gigi said.
debby took the tables order before leaving the girls alone to converse. kj tried participating in the conversation but she couldn't get over the fact that nicks mom worked at the place she was at. how did she even know what she looked like.
"kj are you okay?" gigi asked.
