Mishti slowly got up from the floor, struggling to regain her balance as she watched Abeer walk off down the stairs of the Mandir. She sighed, holding onto the pillar & was about to go after him, when she spotted a paper bag on the floor. She looked in the direction that Abeer had disappeared to & then back at the bag, leaning down to pick it up & reaching inside to pull out a beautiful red dress.

She put it back in the bag as she began to make her way out of the Mandir. She glanced at the top of the stairs & saw him in his car, waiting for her. Resting his head on his hand as he refused to look in her direction. She looked down at the bag in her hand then smiled to herself before making her way down the stairs.

She had expected him to be angry. & that's why she had mentally prepared herself for his anger. She knew telling him was an option. Hell, it should have been her first one, considering how she had reacted to when he hid the truth from her. But she didn't just hide the truth. She lied about where she was, what she was doing. & no matter how many explanations she could have given him, she couldn't blame him if he was angry at her. & she had to deal with his anger. She had to find a way to make it up to him.

"Nahin Mishti. Rehne do. Abhi kuch mat bolo. Tum jo bhi kahogi mujhe jhoot hi lagega." she recalled his words to her a few minutes ago, before he walked off, as she slowly made her way down the stairs of the Mandir. Abeer glanced up & saw the bag in her hand. He had forgotten that he had brought it with him. He sighed, resting his head back on the headrest. What had he expected to happen? & what had actually happened?

He wanted the two of them to celebrate their first Karva Chauth together. To share some quality moments between them before they had to go home. But when he found out she was here. & then when he saw her state on the floor of the Mandir. He squeezed his eyes shut, his anger rising again.

The irony of the whole situation was that the thing that should have hurt him the most, her speculating about his baba. Her coming with the specific purpose to find out information on him, wasn't what he was angry about. That hurt him, but it didn't cut as deep as the fact that she had lied to him. Especially when she berated him for doing the exact same thing! How could the rule apply to one person in the relationship, but not to the other?

& not only had she lied to him, she had put herself in danger whilst doing so. How was he supposed to react?

He felt a pang of guilt as he saw her struggling to make her way down the stairs. She had just fainted. She had kept a fast for him, & instead of helping her, he had stormed off in anger. He sighed before reaching for the car handle & was about to get out of the car, when she looked up at him from the bottom of the stairs, meeting his gaze. He got out of the car & she watched as he opened the passenger car door for her whilst she made her way over to him.
He was still angry at her. His anger wasn't going to subside that easily. But he still cared about her. He still loved her. & that's all that mattered to her. She would make it up to him. She didn't know how. But she would, somehow. She tried to meet his gaze before she got into the car, but he looked away, waiting for her to get in, so she did, before he closed the door behind her & walked around the car to get into the driver's seat.
She put on her seatbelt & glanced over at him as he started the car, resting his arm on her headrest to check whether the coast was clear before pulling out of the spot. He met her gaze & she gave him a pleading look but he ignored it & looked through the back window of the car & reversed out of the spot before driving off.

"Abeer-" Mishti turned to face him properly.
"I don't want to talk about anything" He said shortly.
"Abeer, please. Hear me out at least-" She began but he cut her off.
"So you can tell me another lie?" He taunted & she closed her eyes. "Why you were here? Why you lied to me about being out with a friend? Why you didn'things through.
"Aur agar kisiki khushiyan tumhaari khushiyan se judi ho toh?" She said aloud & he glanced over to meet her gaze. She gave him a pleading look before sitting back properly, subsequently ending the conversation.
Mishti sat back in her seat, properly. She wasn't going to push him. She reached forward to turn the CD Player on. That would at least abate the silence between them on this drive home. He saw out of the corner of his eyes as a smile came to her lips when the song began to play.

Nata tere mere rooh se,

Aisa judaa hai yeh,
Ke kya kahe.
Bhaaye kohi aur na re.

She glanced over at him & he focused his eyes on the road, properly as the song continued to play.

Dono milke chalte hai na
sapno main hi rehte hai na
Sirf tu main woh jahaan main.

Haath main ho, haath tera
Chute kabhi na saath tera
Mujhko aise tu bhi vaade de.

Saathiya mere,
Main toh tera deewana hoon.
Saara jahaan se begaana hoon
Main dhuno ka taraan tu.

Abeer glanced at the petrol station up ahead & turned his indicactor on to pull up outside, where a young man had gotten up from his chair. He turned the car off, causing the song to end abruptly. "I'll be back in a minute" He told her & she watched him get out of the car to greet the young man. She paused for a moment before taking the bag from the floor & getting out of the car herself. He turned to see her making her way over to him, her hands behind her back.

"Bhaiyya" she address the young man. "is there a washroom here?" She asked
"Yes DiDi, that way" He said, pointing to the dhaaba next door that was being frequented by a fair number of people that evening. "Just tell them that Chotu sent you" He said & Mishti smiled before walking off, careful to hide the bag in front of her, out of Abeer's view before making her way towards the dhaaba. "Bhaiya, I'll do all this & give the car a once over, you go & have a cup of tea. I'll call you when it's done" He said & Abeer sighed before nodding, with a smile, not wanting to ruin Chotu's chance of earning his living.

Mishti ran her hands through her hair, taking out the clips that she had used that morning before she looked at herself in the mirror & making her way out of the washroom, her clothes stuffed in the paper bag in her hand as she stepped out into the warm night.
Abeer had just handed the menu back to the man when his eyes glanced over to see Mishti was wearing the red dress he had got her. His eyes widening as a few people looked over & saw her approaching him confidently. He recalled seeing the dress in the boutique & imagining how it would look on her. He didn't imagine she would look this beautiful.

Na Kajre Ki Dhaar,
Na Motiyon Ke Haar.
Na Kohi Kiya Singaar.
Phir Bhi Kitni Sundar Ho.
Tum Kitni Sundar Ho
.

"Thank you Bhaiya" Mishti said sitting opposite Abeer, & taking the glass from the man, snapping Abeer out of his thoughts, as he looked up, taking his glass. Mishti glanced at Abeer discreetly, smiling to herself as he tried his best to avoid all eye-contact. "Abeer..." she began.
"Mm?" he replied, still refusing to look her way.
"I'm over here Abeer" she sighed & he slowly looked over at her. "Thank you" She shook her head at him. "What do you think?" She shrugged.
"It's nice" he managed
"That's it? Nice?" She pulled a face then sighed before putting the glass down. "Maybe I should go & get changed again" She said, going to get up when he exclaimed.
"No!" He told her & she tried to suppress the smile on her lips.
"Really?" She asked sweetly
"Finish your tea, we have to go" He simply said
"Okay" She sighed, exaggeratedly, sitting properly before taking her glass to finish the tea. A smile on her lips as she paused, recalling the night before, where the two of them had shared the glass of juice.

He looked up & saw her smiling to herself, the glass of tea almost to her lips & Abeer couldn't help but smile to himself, recalling the same thing. She looked up at him but he cleared his throat, finishing the tea in one go. "Let's go" He said getting up & Mishti smiled, nodding to herself before getting up. Abeer handed a note to the man who served them & Mishti followed him to the car, where Chotu was waiting with his keys.

"Thank you" He said & Chotu disappeared back inside. Abeer was about to get back into the car when Mishti took his arm in both of her hands, resting her chin on his shoulder as he glanced down at her tilting her head at him.

Khoobsurat raat yeh,
Hai saath tera maange.
Dil yeh mera khush rehta hai,
Bas saath tera paa ke..

Teri khushboo jaise jaadoo,
Tere badal ki rehjaati hai.
Main maangoon uss rab se,
Tujhe har dua main hi,
Har dua main.

"Mishti, let's go"
"Ajeeb Rajvansh, here I am, wanting to spend a few moments alone with you & you're in a rush to go home. You're seriously ajeeb" She sighed, going to walk off when he took her wrist. "Now what?" she sighed, turning to him.
"You want me to romance with you when I'm mad at you?" He asked & she put her arms around his neck, causing his eyes to widen as he looked around to make sure no one was watching.
"Well, you can still do both. It's called multi-tasking" she teased. "Entrepreneur of the year, remember?" She teased & he moved her hands away, giving her a look, causing her to roll her eyes. "Let's go home" She sang walking around the car to get into the passenger's seat.
Abeer couldn't resist the tug on the corner of his lips before getting into the car & starting it. Mishti rested her eyes & faced the window. Abeer glanced over to her & shook his head, sighing. She opened one eye to look at him & saw him reach for the CD Player as the edited song began to play, making them both smile separately as a thought recurred.

Naina laage toh jaage
Bina Dori Ya Dhaage
Baandhte Hai Do Naina Khwaab Se.

Na Ata Ho Na Pata Ho.
Kore Naino Main Kohi Aa Base

Iska Uska Na Iska Hai.
Jaane Kitna Hai Kiska Hai.
Kaisi Bhaasa Main Bhaasa Main Hai Likha.

Mishti rested her head on his shoulder as he continued to drive them home, looking down at her briefly. "I'm trying to drive" He told her & she shrugged.
"I'm not stopping you."
"Well, you kinda are"
"Well, I don't care"

"Mishtiii" he tried a stern voice but it was obvious that his anger had subsided.

Iske Uske Yeh Hisse Main,
Tere Mere Yeh Kisse Main.
Maula Seekhe Bin Seekha Bin De Sikha.

Kaisa Ye Isq Hai, Ajab Sa Risk Hai.
Kaisa Ye Isq Hai, Ajab Sa Risk Hai.

All of a sudden the car came to a halt & Mishti sat up to see the confused look on Abeer's face. "What's the problem?"
"I'm not sure, I think it's overheating" He said. "Let me get out & check" He said
"Do you need some help?" She asked & he shook his head.
"You stay here, I'll be right back" He said & she watched him get out of the car, lift open the hood of the car & see what the problem was.

Mishti sighed, looking around her to see they were in the middle of a desolate road, a mile or two away from the dhaaba they were just at. "Mishti?" he called & she opened her window a little further to call back.
"Yeah?"
"Can you pass me the bottle of water from the floor, behind you" He said & she smiled to herself
"Okay," She said before reaching behind her for the bottle then getting out of the car.
She made her way over to him & leaned on the bumper of the car. "Here" She said handing him the bottle.
"Thanks" he said & she folded her arms, sighing. "What?" He asked giving her a look.
"What? I just sighed" She told him
"You never just do anything, do you?" He said pouring some water into the car's radiator.
"Ha ha!" she pulled a face at him. "I'm going back in the car"
"No, no" he said taking her wrist. "You offered to help, now you're going to back out, not like you?"
"Are you going to keep taunting me or are you going to talk to me nicely"
"Nicely?" he said & pulled her close to him. "You want me to talk to you nicely?"

"Okay. I screwed up" She explained & he had an obvious look on his face.
"You think?"
"Let me finish!" she complained. "I shouldn't have lied to you, especially after I gave you a hard time"
"Okay, is that it?"
"I promise I will try my utmost never to lie to you again"
"Meaning, you'll still lie" he said, feigning offence.
"Just like you'll lie to me! But white lies" She said proudly. "Like, if I call you one day & ask you where you put my spare glasses, you'd say you never saw it"
"True" he pulled a face.
"See. White lies" She repeated. "Nothing heavy"
"You said that before" he reminded her.
"I mean it this time"
"You mean, you didn't mean it last time!" he scoffed
"Ajeeb Rajvansh!" She glared at him.
"Angry Chorni!" He glared back at her.
"Can we pleaaase move on from this?"
"Maybe"
"Maybe... yes?" she asked, hopefully.
"Maybe" he repeated. "I don't think you've made it up to me yet"
"Oh?" She folded her arms as he closed the hood of the car. "I haven't?"
"Nope!" He told her
"& how do you propose I do that?" She asked, raising her eyebrows at him.
"I'm not sure" He mused, resting on the bumper, beside her. "Has to be innovative, of course"
"Innovative"
"Yeah, you know-"
"Don't try & define the word innovative to me Ajeeb Rajvansh!" he told him & he looked at her, amused
"Is Angry Chorni getting really angry this time?" He taunted. feigning surprise.
"Answer my question" She glared at him & a grin appeared on his face. "What-?"
"Simple" He told her & she narrowed her eyes at him. He took her wrist & pulled her close to him.
"Wh-"
"Finish what you started last night" He reminded her with a seductive tone & she supressed the smile that tugged on her lips, pushing him away but he didn't relent. He kept hold of her.
"Let go" She told him.
"I thought you were just telling me how you wanted to spend a few moments alone with me & how I'm in a rush to go home." he teased & she glared at him, the smile on her lips.
"Moment's over" She said trying to wriggle free but he held onto her tighter. "Abeer, we're on a main road!" She reminded him but he pulled a face, looking to both sides of the empty road before looking back at her.
"There's no one here but us Angry Chorni"
"You're not going to let this go, are you?" he asked & he shook his head vigorously, making her chuckle.
She took a deep breath. "Fine" she said then took his cheek forcefully, catching him by surprise as she placed a soft kiss on his cheek before moving away. "There. Happy?" she asked sweetly, folding her arms when he pulled her arms so that she bumped into him.
"Don't act innocent now. Not you were implying last night, was it?"
"Oh hello? I wasn't implying anything!"
"Of course you weren't" He taunted. "You just happened to take my glass & drink from it because your throat was dry" He teased her & she shook her head.

She gave it a minute before leaning up on her tiptoes, running her hands up his torso to close the space between them & let her lips meet his, her eyes squeezed shut.
As soon as her lips touched his, she found one of his arms around her waist, pulling her close to him whilst his hand cupped her cheek, taking ownership of the kiss as his fingers delved into her hair, holding her in place as the heat & want filled the air around them.
She reluctantly ended the kiss, pulling up for air as she gazed up at him, the intensity in his eyes burning her with the desire. He was all but searing her with his gaze.
"We should go" She told him & he nodded, moving some hair behind her ear.
"Come" he said kissing her nose. "Let's get out of here" he said & the two of them got back into the car, smiling before he started the engine & drove off.
