The Bennett House

"What is going on? Why were you so flustered over the phone?" Caroline jumped up as Elena walked into Bonnie's house.

"I kissed Elijah" Elena said straight out, breathing in deep.

"You kissed Elijah- right-and he didn't kiss you back-?" Caroline tried to understand why her friend was in such a huff.

"Oh, he kissed me back - " Elena breathed in, feeling the kiss still burning her lips. 

"And - is it like a bad thing?" Bonnie now questioned as Elena shook her head a bit.

"I don't know what it is - I - - huh - I - this is crazy, " Elena sat down on the sofa burying her head in her hands, "I left."

"You left?!" Caroline was astound.

"I don't know what happened-suddenly I got panicky - I don't know why - I feel so stupid. I am - a grown up woman - and -"

"You've fallen in love with him?" Bonnie said, directing a unprejudiced look at the doppelganger.

Exhaling, Elena nodded a little.

"I don't how it happened"

"You've always had a thing for him, right?" Caroline sat down next to Elena.

Elena shook her head a little, but then gulping, nodded again. 

"It's ok. I've always had a thing for Klaus, but - I couldn't admit it to myself - and - I've always held back. Now he is gone. So, if you feel something for Elijah - and it feels good - just go for it."

"But he is a vampire - and I am not - anymore. I don't think I should go there. And -" Elena exhaled again, feeling everything strangely knotting inside her chest. 

"Well, you've been with a vampire before." Bonnie reminded her of her relationship with Stefan as she was human.

"Yeah - but then - I didn't really think about how and where that would go."

"So, you want this - with Elijah to go somewhere?" Bonnie asked.

"I don't know. You see - it's - ok. I - this is all ridiculous. I am going to brush it off as just - a kiss. Nothing major. Ok - I got a long day tomorrow- so I am gonna go. Sleep it off and - yeah." 

Elena picked up her bag and with a little bye, left her friend's house.

Bonnie and Caroline where left, exchanging a look. 

"She's totally fallen." Bonnie said.

"Yep." Caroline exclaimed.

At the Mikaelson Mansion

Rebekah strolled in the lounge announcing that supper was ready and that they will be eating in a little while. 

"Hope made most of it - so you have to give her a huge compliment."

"All right." Elijah said somewhat absent-minded, taking a sip of Bourbon. 

"What's up with you? Elena, for a guess" Rebekah said pouring herself a glass of the drink.

"Excuse me?" Elijah turned to his sister, who sat down in the armchair.

"Only a woman can have you in such deep thought. Us being back here, and you two hanging out together ever so often - well - you and Elena are tiptoing around one another is actually pretty -"

"What- pathetic?" Elijah poured himself another drink.

"No, Elijah. But Elena is - very human. And you are - rebounding - and I completely understand you. It feels good to get into something new. But Elena- your history with her is - "
