Elijah looked at Elena with dreamy eyes, and then said-

"So you are sure about this?"

"I am more sure than I have ever been of anything in my life." - Elena said smiling back at the Original.

"When I think that I could have lost you -"

Elena now put the finger on Elijah's lips to stop him talking.

"Thank God there is Caroline in the world." - Elena said.

👔Six months before Elijah arrived in Paris

New Orleans

Elijah walked in the room, where Hayley was playing with Hope. She was already in her wedding gown.

Elijah stopped and gulped. She looked beautiful.

"Hi" - Hayley said now getting up.

"Hello. You're perfect."- Elijah said.

"Thank you." - the hybrid replied.

There was suddenly a strange silence between the Original and the brunette.

"I guess, they sent you up to tell me that the ceremony is about to start." - Hayley then said.

"Yes." - Elijah slipped.

"All right." - Hayley then said and wanting to turn to get her daughter, Elijah said -

"Jackson is a good man."

Hayley now stopped and nodded in agreement, saying-

"He is."

Again, awkward silence shot back between them.

"I -" - Elijah now started, but Hayley cut him short-

"It's all right. I know it."

"Excuse me" - Elijah looked puzzled at the hybrid.

"All this time - you - huh- I felt everything for you - but you - you could never say how you feel. And - I know why. It's because you are in love with someone else. I heard you and Klaus talking the other day."

Elijah swallowed hard, remembering his conversation with his brother.

Flashback within flashback

Mikaelson Compound

"Thank you so much for letting me know. I am so very glad that she is doing all right. Of course. Bye." - Elijah finished his conversation and hung up.

"And how is Elena Gilbert doing?" - Klaus asked as he entering having heard his brother's conversation to Caroline.

"Fine." - Elijah replied shortly.

Klaus knew his brother well, especially when the doppelgangers were concerned.

"Something tells me that there is so much more going on than you just inquiring about lovely Elena's well being."

Elijah now tried to change the subject, but Klaus was not letting the subject of Elena go so easily.

"Oh, come on, Elijah. Just admit it. Elena Gilbert has captured your heart. And I do not know why you continuing fooling around. Hayley is clearly completely infatuated with you, but you don't feel the same."- Klaus now seriously.
