Cheer practice went as mundane as usual. Quite frankly, I've been bored as hell in here lately. It's the same old routines with the same old yelling at the JV members with Sana.
As I packed up my gym bag and took my sweatband off my forehead, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and was greeted by Sana's same old giddy grin. "Hey girl," I said, "I could recognize that perfume anywhere!"
"Do you need a ride home tonight?" She asked me, moving a hair behind her ear. She had her hands stuffed in her back pockets and her posture was strained. There was definitely something on her mind, knowing Sana.
"I wasn't going to ask, but yeah, I do." I laughed, zipping up my bag. Only a month and half left until I can get my license. November 11th, here we come!
"Let me go grab my stuff." She said, running across the auxiliary gym to grab her bag. She ran back and smiled, ushering me over to the door. I quickly ran over, opening the door for the both of us.
"So, how are you enjoying the season so far this year? We haven't had much time to talk lately, I've missed you." I said, feeling the September heat hit me like a bag of bricks. I couldn't tell if I was sweating due to the humidity or if it was because I'd just worked my ass off at practice.
"It's been good! Being cheer co-captain is stressful but I'm glad I get to do it by your side. It just sucks that we can't collaborate more." Sana frowned, unlocking her car a few rows down. As we approached, I prepared to throw my cheer bag into the backseat. Upon reaching the car, I quickly threw it inside, huffing and puffing afterward.
"Oh, come on, it can't be that heavy." She said, throwing her bag beside mine and turning around to get in the car.
I opened the passenger door and laughed, "oh, it is. Believe me."
"I'll take your word for it." Sana chuckled, obnoxiously revving her engine as she put her keys in, as she usually does. We both laughed as she backed out of the parking spot.
As she drove into the night, I could feel my senses drowned with anxiety. Before the silence became any more deafening, I turned my head over to her. "Do you need to talk to me about something?"
Sana sank down in her seat a bit at the stoplight, "how'd you know?"
"I've known you since sixth grade. I know how you operate." I laughed, turning my head back toward the road.
"You've known Jeongyeon since sixth grade and that hasn't meant anything, has it?" She said to me, causing my breath to catch in my throat.
"Excuse me?" I asked, whipping my head over to look at her.
"I just think the quality of time you spend with someone is worth more than the quantity." She shrugged, not bothering to look over at me.
"That's the thing about you, Sana. You're so damn petty." I crossed my arms in frustration and scoffed.
"Maybe I wouldn't have to be so passive aggressive if you weren't such a bitch all of the time. I wouldn't have to feel like I'm walking on eggshells whenever I say anything to you." She snapped back at me, cutting the turn to my neighborhood harshly.
"God, you're going to fucking kill us." I raised my voice at her, causing her to gasp.
"With how much you hate yourself, that's probably what you want." Sana continued to drive, not looking at me.
"No wonder Dahyun cheated on you." I yelled at her.
Sana slammed the breaks down and stopped the car dead in the middle of the road. "Get out."
