Okay so here is chapter 1 of the life I never wanted.

Chapter 1:

I awoke to someone shaking me from my dream, it was a pretty good one as well. Well, at least I think it was because I can't remember a thing about it.

Slowly, my eyes opened and I set my bleary gaze on my attacker. I blinked to clear my vision and, once it did, I came face to face with sparkling chesnut eyes and a mass of sandy blonde hair. Rae Carlson.

"AHH!" Though Rae was my best friend, her proximity was not something I was expecting and caused me to flinch away. "Rae what the hell?" I pushed her away so I had room to sit up and ran my fingers through my knotted black hair.

She let me move but not before rolling her large eyes at me.

"Issae, it's Monday. I realise that you don't actually care but we still have to go to school." She smirked at me and a twinkle that meant she was up to no good appeared in her eyes. "Besides, I heard Jodie Von is dating Trent."

I began to study the chipped black and green nail polish that adorned my fingertips as she was talking but as the last phrase passed her lips, my gaze immediatly snapped to hers.

"Do you mean, Trent Walters?" She nodded. "Why would he do that? One everyone knows she's slept with half the football team and two he knows Shauna is still sore about their break-up no matter how hard she tries to say otherwise." The mischeivious glint never left Rae's eyes. If anything, it only intensified during my mini rant. I was instantly worried. "What are you planning now?" In truth, I was scared to ask.

"I'll tell you once you're dressed." She told me, pulling me towards my closet, "Now hurry up." She was really good at avoiding something and steering the conversation into a new direction.

Just before I entered the closet, I felt a sharp sting on my lower back and knew that Rae had just slapped my arse. At 17, Rae Carlson was like any other teenager apart from the fact that she was much more confident. But don't start she was lesbian or bi 'cause she wasn't. I mean she'd smack an old man's rear if given the chance. She did it to everyone. Always very open about relationships and sometimes just downright peverted, but that was what made her Rae.

After grabbing the first clothes I came across, I headed towards the bathroom to shower and brush my teeth. 10 minutes later I emerged fully dressed and applied my liner and mascara, or as Rae liked to call it Racoon make-up. Rae had left my room sometime during my shower and was talking to my parents. As I walked into the kitchen the converstion ceased and before I had time to grab some food, I was being dragged toward the front door. With a hasty goodbye we left and we were soon sat in Rae's beat up pick-up.

"Hey, hey, hey. Calm down I can walk on my own you know and you just pulled me from my food." I mumbled tugging my arm from her grasp.

She didn't reply as she started her chev. I twisted my upper body to face her and almost demanded,

"Come on then, tell me everything."

This was something I desperatly needed to know about since for three I was in Saint Petersburg visiting my Grandmother, which meant I had no idea what had been happening back home. If Trent was with Jodie the one of two things was true. Either his taste in girls had seriouly deteriorated or he was trying to annoy his Ex, Shauna. With both options something was up and I was going to get to the bottom of it. Trent and Shauna and like each other since they were seven and had dated since thirteen and just before the holidays they had a massive row. Both had been miserable afterwards, so hopefully whatever Rae was up to would benefit them in some way like get the back together.

"Jeez, you really are impatient today, aren't you?" She glanced at me out of the corner of her eye. I glowered at her so she continued. "Okay well, not last Tuesday but the Tuesday before, Trent was apparent walking through the park with a mate of his. Don't ask me who 'cause when I asked he mentioned someone I've never even heard of. So, anyway, walking through the park and he happens to come across Slaggy Von. They 'talked'," She made a bunny ears gesture with her right hand when she uttered 'talked'. "and all of a sudden they're dating." Turning her head she caught my skeptical look. "I swear that is all I heard and know. But Shauna shouldn't be treated like that. Break-up or not."

"Agreed." I muttered.

For the rest of the ride we sat in a comfortable silence and I began contemplating the situation.

'I'll have to get both Shauna and Trent's sides of the story.' I thought, 'Shauna's is gonna be much more difficult though.'

When we got to school the first thing I noticed was Jodie Von clinging to Trent with a feral grin stretched across her face that I knew meant she wasn't going to let any girl near him. Unless they were one of her groupies. Trent, on the otherhand, had an expression on his face that intrigued me. On the outside, to those who didn't know him well enough, you could see a smiling guy who thought he just scored himself a hot girfriend. However I could sew how uncomfortable he really was. His smile looked awkward and forced and there was a glazed appearence to his eyes giving away the fact he didn't want to be there. Lastly, it was clear he wasn't over Shauna. Although she was on the other side of the parking lot, Trent's eyes were glued to her.

It was the same for the aformentioned girl, almost. Even though she didn't have someone knew on her arm, Shauna would glance every now and then at the boy she had dated for four years with a longing look clouding her emerald eyes. Neither caught the other looking because as one turned to stare the other would turn the other way.

I ceased my observations and followed Rae over to where Shauna stood. As soosn as she noticed our approach, her eyes hardened and an exicited smile covered the bottom half of her face to hide her true feelings. 'Too late for that.' I thought.

"Hey ,Rae, Issae." She greeted in an exaggerated happy voice.

"It's good to see you, Shauna." I smiled trying hard not show my sympathy which I knew she would hate. "How have you been?"

"Oh, I've been great." She replied with a dimissive hand gesture. "How was your trip?"

"It was awesome. Seriously, Saint Petersburg is so beautiful." I didn't want to get carried away with talking about my trip so I changed the subject, "We better head inside. The bell is about to ring." On cue it rung, causing both girls to give me astonished looks.

"How the hell do you do that?" Rae asked, her jaw still slightly slack.

"It's a gift, Rae, it's a gift." I chuckled grabbing their arms and pulling them to the main entrance. "We've got History first, right?" They nodded. "Cool, let's go."
