I awoke the next morning to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and frying bacon. I groaned and stretched on the bed. Feeling only mildly stiff and sore from the activities of last night. I chuckled to myself as I realized that we were doing this frequently enough that I was getting used to it. Though last night was probably the best one so far, and I was a bit embarrassed to admit that I was the one that had started it. I got up from the bed and threw on the closest boxers and one of Mac's few t-shirts that he had stashed away in the closet.
I walked out of the bedroom and down the hall to the kitchen where I saw Mac already dressed in a business suit. I sat at the small island in the kitchen, one of only the few places that wasn't covered in painting supplies. Mac passed me a plate of eggs, toast, and bacon before putting the dishes in the sink and turning off the stove.
"Sorry, I already ate," Mac commented when he saw my raised eyebrow. "My brother called and said that he might have a lead but he needs me to come and look at some video footage first. I'll be back in a couple hours, but just don't go too far from the house until I get back okay?"
"He doesn't know that you have a second house here, does he?" I asked nervous as I stopped munching on a piece of toast.
"No, you are the only person other than my family that knows about this place. You'll be safer here then anywhere else that we could've stayed in the city. Anyway, I'll see you tonight."
Mac walked around the island and gave me a quick kiss on the side of my head before rushing out the door. I sighed; it was like we were already practically in a relationship with the way that he acted. I can't say that it was just his doing though either, I didn't say no or try to stop anything. I was enjoying this just as much as he was, I think. I just hoped that he would get this jealous ex thing sorted out so that I didn't have to stay in hiding like this.
As I finished eating my breakfast, I tried to figure out what I could do while Mac was gone. I wasn't sure what I was and was not allowed to touch or where I was even allowed to go in the house. He said that he would be gone a couple hours, so what could I do here for a couple hours? Well he didn't say that I couldn't go outside, he just said not to go too far from the house. I suppose that I could relax outside for a bit, I haven't been outside for leisure reasons in weeks I could use some sun. But dishes first. I washed up the breakfast dishes putting them on the drying rack next to the sink before going to the bedroom to try to find something to wear.
Everything was way too big for me to wear since Mac was much taller and more muscular than I was. I could probably wear my jeans for one more day and I could probably still wear this shirt just maybe tie it up so that it's more fit for my size. I threw on the jeans and tried my best to tie the shirt so that the knot was resting on my hip. I went back to the kitchen and poured myself a cup of coffee, adding milk and sugar to the cup before heading out to the front porch. I sat down on the outdoor couch and pulled my legs up. As I sat there and watched the street, sipping my coffee, I realized that I should've brought a book out with me. I wasn't sure where Mac kept his books at this house though or even if he had any.
I watched as a beat-up silver two door sedan slowly drove down the road. I wonder if this was a school zone for someone to be driving that slow down the road. The windows were tinted enough that I couldn't see who was driving the car but it wasn't really out of the ordinary for this area, probably. I never lived in the suburbs so I didn't really know what to expect about the people that lived down there. I think that I could get used to the quiet nature though. It was far more peaceful then anywhere in the city that I had lived before. Once I saved up a bit of money, I might want to try to get a place like this where I can come home from work and just unwind.
