Being back at school things had changed between Mac and James after what had happened at the camp. It put a bit of distance between the two of them for a while even if they did still text each other. It was always with that over hanging feeling of tension. After they graduated James started dating a pretty little blonde during the first year of college and finally got out of being in his mother's abusive house. Mac grew almost a foot and a half over the summer and tried his best to forget about his romantic feelings for James by sleeping with pretty anyone that would say yes, no matter how much older they were. He thought that he had finally got his feelings under control enough that they could start to hang out more than just a couple times a month.
James seemed rather happy in his new relationship. So happy that Mac didn't tell him when his girlfriend had propositioned him for sex a couple of times over the course of her relationship with James. He wanted James to be happy and so far, that was making him happy too.
That was until the day that Mac received an invite to James' wedding. Destroying any fantasy that he had left of being able to get back with James. He was not about to abandon him though when he was married to such an unworthy partner. Mac built up a wall and used his sarcasm as a weapon rather than just for fun, keeping people at bay and at a far enough distance that he wouldn't get hurt again.
