Chapter 5: The Deathday Party

Maple returns a couple weeks later on my birthday. Along with a couple letters, she also has a couple packages. Of course, I open the packages first. The first one has a jewelry case in it. In the case is a that has diamonds and amethysts. I grin and put it on. "That's so pretty! It really brings out your eyes" Hermione says. "Thank you" I say and open the next package. It has my mom's chocolate in it. I eat that while I read my Aunt's letter.

Dear Chloe,

I'm so glad you're finally interested in boys! I'll try to help in any way I can. I'm not sure which letter you're going to open first - I really hate that I can't see your future - so I will say what happened. When I first read your letter, I decided that I wouldn't tell your mother. However, Edward read my mind and I told him not to tell Rosalie and Emmett, but he did anyway.

At first, they were not happy that I was going to give you advice. Then I told them that you are at a boarding school on another continent and they can give you all the rules they want but if you choose not to follow them, then there is very little they can do to stop you. They saw my point and agreed to let you date on certain conditions. Your mom will tell you those conditions in her letter. Right now, I'm going to focus on the advice.

Fred sounds fantastic! If I'm being honest, he sounds like your dad a little bit where the sense of humor is concerned. I want to meet him. I think you should tell Fred how you feel. It's like ripping off a band-aid. There's no other way to do it. If he doesn't feel the same way you do, I will admit that it will be awkward for bit, but you would have to move past it. Ask him if you two can still be friends. He probably won't keep what you told him a secret from his twin, but maybe you could ask him to keep it a secret from Ron.

If he feels the same way you do, then you're golden! We will all want to meet him though. He could stay with us for a few weeks over the summer, or we could take you to his place. No matter what happens, I need updates!

My heart skips a beat. They know. I'm scared to open my mom's letter. I notice that it's in my dad's handwriting. I swallow and set Alice's letter down and start to read my mom's letter.

Dear Chloe,

First of all, you should have talked to us and told us how you felt. At first, we weren't going to let you date but then Alice made a good point about us not being able to do anything with you being thousands of miles away. We also want you to know that even if you're scared to tell us something, you can. There is nothing that you can't tell us.

If you do tell Fred how you feel and he feels the same way and you two start dating, we have guidelines. We want to meet him as soon as possible. Since that won't be until the end of the school year though, we want him to write to us and answer a few questions. What are his grades, what he does in his free time, what is his family like - his words - does he get along with his family, will he protect you, what are his intentions with you. You, Chloe, are not to see this letter. When he's done just have him give it to you and send it off with Maple.

If he doesn't feel the same way - which would be his loss because you are beautiful and smart and kind - then tell us. So, in short, you have the all clear from us as long as you follow our guidelines. Good luck.
