I sat on the couch in the living room, me legs bouncing nervously as I wait for Jack to arrive. My mind is still trying to process what happened, and is trying to figure out what the hell is going to happen now.
Will these people come after me again? Did I make a mistake getting involved with Jack? Everything is so out of focus it is driving me insane. I hate not being in control, or not knowing what is going to happen. And then my mind drifted to my apartment, my sanctuary which took me forever to fix is now destroyed. The thought brought tears to my eyes, and slowly I felt myself crying quietly.
Jaden was in the kitchen when the doorbell rang. I hastily stood up as he walked towards the door and opened it. Jack walked in, his eyes looking everywhere until they landed on me. He strode towards me and I quickly wiped my tears, trying to act tough but failing miserably as an involuntary whimper escaped my lips. He clenched his jaw, before pulling me in his arms- his tall frame engulfing my petite one easily.
"I'll go make us some coffee", Jaden said before he retreated back to the kitchen. I pulled back from Jack, and looked him in the eyes.
"Did anyone touch you?" was the first thing he said. I shook my head no, unable to find my voice. He signed in relief, before looking t my attire. My hair was a mess, and my clothes were disheveled, and the only thing covering my feet was my fuzzy socks.
"C'mon princess, let me take you home", he said before lifting me up from the waist. Just as Jaden came back with two coffee mugs, Jack told him we'll see him tomorrow morning.
He sat me in the passenger seat of his car, and drove silently. "Thank you", I whispered with a cracked voice. His grip on the wheel tightened, and he released a strong breath.
"Don't thank me. If you had listened to me in the first place, none of this would have happened" he said strongly, his words hitting me like bricks. My lips trembled, I knew he was right but that doesn't make it hurt any less.
"I'm sorry" I whispered, willing my voice not to break.
"From now on you listen to me, and do what I say. This is no joke princess, and you witnessed that first hand" he growled. I sniffed and uttered a small okay before he sighed loudly, grabbing my right hand with his left one.
"Stop crying, please. It's driving me insane" he said in a low voice. My heart fluttered at his words, and i wiped my face with my hand. Him grabbing my hand feels so intimate. It's just hand holding, my subconscious said- it's no big deal. Yet it feels like so much more.
We pulled up to a big black gate, and Jack rolled down his window and put his palm on a black screen. A few seconds later, the machine scanned his hand and opened the gate. I watched in astonishment as we drove up to a huge beautiful house. Six different black cars were parked on the driveway, and the whole house was lit up. We parked, and got out of the car. The front door opened and three shirtless men walked out, and the first thing I noticed was the ink covering their skin.
"Hey Wolf, we got some intel from the New York group, you're gonna wanna see this", one on them said., before all of their eyes zeroed in on me. I hugged myself, feeling self conscious under their scrutinising looks.
"Boys, this is Rose. Rose meet the boys, they will be assigned to protect you whenever I am not here. This is Enzo, Gabriel, Dany, Thomas, Elijah, Ricardo, Jamal and Lee" Jack roughly introduced- all the boy nodded at me before turning back and going in the house.
"Don't worry, they won't do anything to hurt you. I trust these men with my life", Jack assured before grabbing my hand and leading me in. I nodded quietly, and followed him inside the beautiful house.
The inside of the house was even more amazing than the outside, and I was left baffled at the luxury of it all.
"Go up the stairs, third door on your right is where you'll stay. I'll be up soon" Jack said before ushering me up. I nodded my head and went up, and opened the door he instructed me to and I was mind blown.
I was in awe at how beautiful this room was. I had a view of the backyard, where there was a small pool and garden with a barbecue deck. I smiled lightly, it feels like home in a way. I put my bag down, and went inside the bathroom attached to the room.
As soon as I walked in I knew I had to take a bath, so I turned on the water and put some of the bath salts available. I let the tub fill in for a few minutes before stripping and climbing in.
The water felt like heaven on my skin as I sat there in silence. A few seconds in, and all the events that happened this week rushed in my head. The pain of losing my home was excruciating, and I found myself crying again. I cried for my house, I cried for almost dying twice ever since I met Jack, I cried for the whirlwind of emotions I was spiraling into.
After almost thirty minutes of crying, I got out of the tub and put on the bathrobe I found hanging behind the bathroom door. I wiped the fog from the mirror and looked at myself, my blue eyes were dull and puffy, and my usually bright skin was as pale as snow. I huffed before heading towards the bed. I laid down and stared at the ceiling, and soon enough, I fell into a dreamless sleep.
