Chapter 13 - Charlex

You did what!? Exclaimed Tyler angrily

I texted Mike. I'm sorry. I had to.

But I thought we agreed that you would stay here until we move back into the DG

We don't know when that will be. We could be talking months interrupted Charlie

Exactly, it's just a matter of time before I get found here. And I didn't want any of you guys to get in trouble.

We would have figured something out. Protested Tyler

Mike wants me to meet him at Stoneybridge in an hour. So it's up to you, you can come with me to see Mike or you can stay here and stay mad at me

Fine, I'll come

They were just about to board the bus to Stoneybridge when Charlie realised she wasn't wearing her necklace. She was suddenly filled with dread.

My necklace. I don't have it, I have to go back and find it

What but the bus is here now. It's too late. 

You guys go ahead, I'm going back to the half way house to get my necklace.

I'll come with you responded Alex.

Tyler and Jody boarded the bus and Charlie and Alex headed back to the half way house. They hurried along the street, Charlie was desperate to find her necklace and put it back on. The thought of it getting lost or stolen was almost too much to bear. Sensing her anxiety Alex didn't say anything. They reached the half way house and Charlie rushed down the corridor to her room. She immediately went to the bedside cabinet but the necklace wasn't there.

I don't understand. I only take off the necklace to shower and I always leave it here on the bedside table.

Maybe you put it somewhere else suggested Alex surveying the room. Come on let's search

The two of them began searching through all Charlie's possessions. They stripped the bed, Alex even crawled underneath it. They looked through the wardrobe and even through Sadie's wardrobe too.

It's not here. It's gone.exclaimed Charlie. She sat down on the bed tears spilling down her cheeks.

I don't know what I'm going to do without my necklace. It was all I had left of my grandparents. It made me feel close to them. Made me feel like I wasn't alone and now it's gone.

You're not alone. Not now. Not ever. I know how important your grandparents are to you and I know it's not the same but you've got everyone at the DG and you've got me. So if your ever feeling alone just come and find me. That's what I do, if I'm feeling lonely or down, I come and find you. It doesn't matter how bad a day I'm having I know you'll put a smile on my face and support me no matter what. I will always do the same for you.

Now let's find your necklace

They searched around some more and then they went to speak with the accommodation caretaker. All he could offer was to fill in a missing item form and let Charlie know if it turned up.

Alex went back to the room and started painstakingly searching through everything again. He was half way through when Sadie appeared
