Level Fourteen

Chapter Fourteen: Arkin

He felt that cool metal against his bare skin, and was jolted awake. Despite his current life and death situation; Arkin was caught up in his surroundings.
It was a smaller apartment; the eating and living area combined. He was pinned on the floor; cuffs around his wrists. And that girl stood over him.
He was memorized by her eyes, a pale blue. They held such a turmoil of emotions, flickering from hate to sorrow to pain and back again. It nearly made him dizzy.
Yanking him up to his feet, she pushed the blade closer to his neck.
"You have a sick sense of humor."
She paused, clearly confused.
"The same blade you murder my father with, you plan to kill me with. You little bi-"
"Your father?" The girl's mouth was open in astonishment before she quickly regained her composure.
"Your the son of the Senator?"
"Like you honestly didn't know that. Why else would you kidnap the son of the Senator when you could kill him. What's it gonna be, hold me for ransom? Try to get information out if me?"
The girls face took on an odd expression. "Information..." She muttered. "Information... That file in the Library..."
A slow smile twisted it's way onto her face. Arkin didn't like the way she was studying him now.
"You really shouldn't do that smile thing. It's sorta creeping me out." He spoke freely; thinking his life was no longer in danger.
He was wrong.
"Watch it; you little Senator brat." She hissed; her eyes like stone. "You had better be able to give me the answers I want or I'll spill your pretty little throat on the ground and dump your body next to your father's."
What could possibly make such a person so bitter at a young age? Arkin wondered but didn't dare voice his thoughts aloud as the girl removed her knife from his throat.
She shoved him in the direction of a chair; which he took great fully, and say across from his a data pad in hand.
"You'd better start emptying all that high level information in your head. Now."
