Arkin sat frozen long after the message ended. All this's years; why had he never listened to his father?
"My father..." Kyiira whispered. "My father was the assassin. Rahin Monsoon. He started everything."
Arkin stared at her with widening eyes. "I'm sorry," he whispered to her.
Kyiira looked at him with her cerulean eyes. They matched the color of the ocean, a brilliant blue offset by her black hair. But they held a kind of dark power in them; a warning. A sign.
"He started everything," she said again. "And I'll bet they simply disposed of him when they were finished." She clenched her hands at her sides as her expression changed. Arkinswallowed and looked at the face of his father's killer.
Then he reached for her hand and took it on his own.
