Alex woke up to a load roar. She jumped up, frightened out of her mind and her whole body felt as if she was just hit with a bus. Joe was sitting next to her and seemed in worse shape than she was. Her attention was quickly directed to Grodd, who towered over them both. With Joe terrified, Alex had to maintain a calm exterior.

They didn't need to spook Grodd only for him to retaliate with force. "Grodd hate banana." Joe was nearly in tears as he still continued to hold the fruit out to him. He was too in shock to move his arm down. Thankfully, Grodd left the two of them right after that. The cop still hadn't noticed she had woken.

"Joe," Alex murmured. She didn't want to be too loud in case Grodd decided to return. Joe snapped his head in her direction and let out a relived sigh. He wasn't sure if she was dead or not, and he couldn't reach her without being in too much pain. "I'm going to get us out of here."

Alex pushed herself off the ground to stand up, but toppled down with a cry of pain. She hadn't noticed the pain in her leg until she put pressure on it, but she was sure it was fractured. Grodd had thrown her with a lot of force, and she happened to land on her leg with the fall. "Fuck!"

With much pain and effort, she manage to lean herself up against the nearest wall, which happened to be farther away from Joe. She pulled the phone out of her pocket to dial Barry's number, but not only was the screen shattered, there was no reception. "God dammit. I can't get a call through."

"Can't you just change to Ba-."

"No," Alex cut him off. "It doesn't work that way. I can understand his thoughts, be he can't get to mine. And I don't know where we are in the sewers either so I can't cut it into him either. We're stuck here until that tracking device activates."

"How long is that going to take?" Joe asked. Alex shrugged. If she couldn't get cell reception from down there, she doubted that Cisco's transmitter would be able to reach the surface either. Truth be told, they could quite possible be stuck down there for days before anyone would be able to find them.

"It shouldn't take long for my leg to heal, and once it does I can get us out," Alex assured. As long as Grodd didn't come back again then they should be safe. Unless of course, there was something else that they weren't aware about in lurking in the tunnels with them. "For now, we just have to hunker down and try not to gain unwanted attention from our physic gorilla."

Joe didn't look too convinced by the idea. The two of the anxiously sat in silence. Alex tried to get a good idea of where they were but came up with nothing. She had to admit that she felt nervous being down there without being able to use her powers.

Joe didn't look to be in any better of shape. In fact, he looked more terrified than she had ever seen him. Whatever grudge he had against monkeys was a real one. As he twitched around at every noise, Alex tried to stay calm with her eyes closed and head leaned back.

The faster she healed the faster they got out of there. The silence was ruined as Joe finally spoke up, unable to stay quiet any longer. "So, how are you and Barry?"

"You're asking me about my relationship while we're prisoners to a monkey?" Alex scoffed. Joe told her that he was willing to talk about anything at that point to keep his mind off things. He was just grateful that Grodd took her as well, as selfish as it sounded. The thought of being down there by himself scared him even more. "It's good. Great, actually. I mean I know we just started dating, but I'm happier than I've been in a long time."

"Barry has that effect on people," Joe smiled. It faded as he brought up a more serious question. "I know that you don't want to talk about it, but we need to figure out what Wells did to your mother, or more importantly why he did it."
