"Turning twenty six and still not married." I roll my eyes as I heard my brother speak the moment I approach the dinning table.
"Still thirty and yet you already look like you're ninety, because of marriage." I retort as I went around the table to kiss our parents and of course skipping my brother and his wife. Don't get me wrong, I love my brother and all apart from his wife, but my brother doesn't feel the same way, I think, because he keeps on doing this sort of stuff every chance he gets.
"You should change your attitude or no one would want to marry you. Seriously, how many potential husbands' back out because of the way you are?" For the second time, I roll my eyes as my brother's wife, yet again made a comment nobody cares about.
"You should change your uterus so that you can give my brother an heir. Seriously, how long have you guys been married? Five years and still no child. I'm sure the problem is with you Alice." All of them look at me in disapproval while Alice glared at me.
"You -"
"That's enough." My brother said, looking at her. She then look at my brother disapprovingly and I know the moment they'll be alone, she would fight him over this. I would always catch them fighting, well, her throwing a fit to my brother over a lot of things that didn't go her way. I ignore them and just focus myself on eating my breakfast when my father spoke.
"Speaking of marriage, Anna we are having lunch with the Parsons's today."
"The Parsons's?" If I remember correctly, they're one of dad's business partners' that owns the biggest mall in the country. "Why?"
"Well, it's time for you to settle down. Me and Frederick already talk about pairing you with his son, George." I accidentally drop my fork and all of them jump in surprise. I don't feel sorry, because the one who is the most surprise here was me. Even though I know this will happen and it already happened a couple of times, but it still surprises me. Just last month, I was almost engage to the heir of Lewis Corporation, but he backed out because he couldn't handle my bluntness and now this?
"So soon?"
"This is actually the longest time we spent looking someone for you to marry. I want you to look your best today and behave, I don't want to hear your rudeness or anything. You understand me?" Tch. Why do I have to change who I am just for the sake of this business marriage? I don't want to be in a situation like my brother, but I know I don't have a say to this.
"Please Anna?" My mom plead. Urgh! Smart move dad, using mom to make me behave.
"Fine." I said in defeat.
"Well, we shouldn't get our hopes up." Again, a comment nobody cares about.
"No one cares about your hopes Alice." I said and got up. "I'm done, please excuse me. I'll be in my room, just call me when we're about to go." I finish drinking my tea before leaving the table.
--
I chose to wear a fitted jeans and black turtle neck long sleeves, a little foundation and a red lipstick on my face and I'm ready to go. I put on my black coat before I walk out of my room and lock it before going downstairs, where my family are waiting.
I raise my brow at my brother. "You're coming as well?" I ask.
"We wouldn't miss it for the world. I want to be there when this George man decides to back out already after knowing you." The leech said.
"Did I ask you? Was I talking to you? Was I looking at you when I ask the question?" Her smile drop and she glared at me before going inside the car first, followed by my brother. I look at my parents and they just shook their heads before they too, went in. I look up to the sky and as expected, it's pure white that I can't help but think it might snow, making me excited. Knowing England, snow is impossible since it barely did. It's always Scotland and in the country side but not in the city, which made me hate the city even more.
"We don't have all day waiting here while you're praying for it to snow. Get in already." I heard my brother said. He knows what I'm thinking just from looking at me and that made me happy, because at least he pays attention to me even though he annoys me all the time. I went inside the car and sat beside the window, as we made our way to the restaurant, I can't help but be annoyed at the buildings and identical houses we passed by. I miss the country side where you can see a lot of green scenery, farms, sheep, cows, flowers and trees whose leaves are starting to fall at this time of the year.
"Quit daydreaming and get off." Again, I heard my brother speak. I didn't even realize we're already here and that me and my brother are the only ones left in the car with the driver. I apologize before getting out of the car, as I started walking, my left foot wobble because of uneven ground. I almost fell when my brother catch me in time. "Be careful. Tsk, why do you always wear heels that thin?"
"Thank you. They're called cigarette heels and I love them." He look at my heels one last time before we went inside the restaurant.
"What took you so long?" Our dad ask.
"She's busy daydreaming about flowers and trees." I look at my brother in amazement.
"How did you know?" I ask excitedly.
"It's shows on your face." He said without looking at me.
"You can see trees and flowers on my face!?" They all look at me as if I'm crazy, which I might be in this case, especially my brother who look at me with are-you-kidding-me-right-now face.
"So dumb." Alice commented.
"You're not a part of this so shush." I retort.
"Okay, that's enough." Dad said and face the lady waiting for us. "We have reservations for two and for seven people under the name of John Rowthorn."
"Yes, this way for the table of seven and to the table for two, please follow this lady here." She said and points at her colleague. I know the table for two is meant for me and that guy so, I didn't say anything to my family and followed the girl. She lead me to a table near a window with a view that is beyond this world: Tall buildings with cranes at the top. I thank her and took a sit facing where I came from so that I could see my 'date' coming in. I look around the restaurant and I kind of like the interior design, carpeted floor, dim lights and warm enough. I look at some of the diners and you can tell that all of them are Alphas', is this restaurant exclusive for us only?My attention was focus on the two figure coming my way, the same girl that was with me awhile ago and following her is the man, who you can always see in magazines and newspapers: George Parsons. He's at least six feet tall, pale blue eyes and a gorgeous jaw line, overall handsome just like any other male Alphas', nothing special.
As they got nearer, I stood up and smile sweetly at him, I hate this act already. "Hi, you must be George. I'm Anna." I said and offer my hand.
"Hello Anna, please sit." He said after we shook hands. The girl lay the menu in front of us before she left.
"Is your fami-"
"I'm sorry to be rude, but I don't want to lead you on. I don't like you, I'm against this arrangement and I have a girlfriend who I love very very much."
