The Feeling of Touch

Chapter 3

It was a long ride, and she found herself quite indulged on the fact that she would be meeting her siblings. Yet, something was bothering her. She would by all means not allow them to find out her secret. Truly, the idea of her being found out was tormenting her. Her peculiar sense of touch had been a result of the coven, which her mother affiliated herself with, would surely cause her suffering if found out. If only her mother would have been alive, then maybe things would have been different for her.

At last, they arrived and as she came out there were three new faces at the entrance of the house. Of course, the house was much more pleasing to look at than the one where she spent ten years of her life at. She felt something quite off about the people who were now bound to be her family. The lady was quite a fine looking woman who seemed like she was in her mid twenties and beside her were a pair of siblings, more specifically; twins. A girl and a boy with dark, brown eyes. They appeared to be around the same age as her and twins and that time were considered to be a blessing and a good omen. 

They welcomed her and for the most part, treated her quite well. Her room was quite spacious and her belongings were already placed there. Life would now be different but she had to be careful around these people. She was the oldest child of her father, and by tradition, the heiress of everything he owned. No that she cared, but surely it felt like her step-mother was quite bothered by this. She, as any mother of that time would have wanted, was for one of her one to be the successor. For the first days, she was treated well but they grew cold towards her. Up to now, she hadn't even taken off her gloves around them and no one questioned her about it but indeed they were quite curious as to why this child would always have them on.
