Drain Me chpt 13
I quickly drew back from my dad, bumping into the bathroom door in the process. He looked at me with confused eyes and I glared back with a hungry stare. I turned my back to my mother and father and took slow deep breaths through my mouth. I don't understand how long I can keep up this human façade. I'm going to have to tell them what I've become, it's the only way to keep them safe.
"Cory," my father whispered my childhood nickname. I drew in another deep breath before speaking up.
"Yeah dad?"
"What happened to you?" he asked. Only one word can put in the simplest terms my current predicament.
"Vampire," I managed to slip the rough word from my objecting mouth. The silence that followed was as deadly as me.
"What are you talking about Corinne?" my mom questioned me. I turned around grabbing both their hands and led them to the living room. They plopped down on the plush, cream colored couch and looked up at me like 2 toddlers waiting to hear a story. I sat opposite them on the swivel chair next to the family computer. Taking in about a million deep breaths I finally began my story.
"My captures weren't exactly human... They were supernatural beings" I began. "They were vampires..." I waited a while before continuing so as to allow them to take in what I've just said. The look on both their faces told me they weren't taking this to well, but behind their anger and sorrow, I could see a hint of belief. They actually believed what I was telling them!
"They turned you didn't they?" my mom asked me. It was time to tell her more of the truth.
"Yes they did turn me, but... I wanted them to" I stammered a bit. A look of surprise was the next poster face.
"Why would you want this Corinne?" my father spoke up. The next piece of truth was something that they wouldn't possibly understand. How could I explain to them that I wanted to become a vampire because I fell in love with my kidnapper? They would never understand, but I knew they needed a reason, but the truth would never escape my lips.
"Becoming one of them was the only way that I could possibly escape. I needed their speed, strength, and heightened senses in order to be set free," I lied. My mom jumped up to embrace me, completely catching me off guard.
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that!" she exclaimed. Actually the change was painless, but the thirst is what's killing me. I looked over to my dad who also seemed shocked by my moms actions. His next words took me back completely.
"You won't hurt us will you?" he quietly asked. I wanted to cry! My mom slowly began to lose her grip around my neck and retreated to his side.
"No, I would never hurt you guys! I don't want to hurt anyone!" a rushing stream of tears began escaping from my eyes. How could they ever think I would want to hurt them in anyway?
"I'm sorry if I upset you, but you are a danger to us" he continued with his harsh words.
"Paul she won't hurt us, we're her family" my moms gentle tone put me at ease.
"I can't be the only one that thinks this is dangerous" his voice rose a bit.
"You're not, I know what I'm capable of and I'm trying my best to keep myself under control" I cried. "It would be easier if I weren't so thirsty" those last words unknowingly escaped my lips. Their looks of horror saddened me even more. "I don't want to be a monster" I whispered.
"You're not a monster" I heard my mom say. I believed her, but once I looked over to my dad I knew he didn't exactly feel the same way.
"If you're going to be a vampire.... I don't want you killing innocent people. I will grab some left over blood from the annual blood drive back at the hospital. I would prefer you drink them in small portions because I'm not going back and forth because you can't handle your thirst. Also, no one else but us will know about this" his words were hard but I gave him an assuring nod, and with that, he left the house, taking my mom with him.
I was home alone. The house phone began to ring, killing the silence that took over the almost empty house. I slowly stood up to answer it, grabbing it from its resting place.
"Hello?" I answered.
"It's really to bad that you had to leave the mansion so suddenly. There's no need to worry though, we will be reunited sooner than you think" a familiar wicked voice spoke from the other line.
"Emilio" I gasped.
"Oh, so you do remember me" the fake surprised tone in his voice made me want to vomit.
"How could I forget the monster that terrorized me so often" I said between gritted teeth.
"Now let's not forget that you are in fact a monster as well" I couldn't escape that fact.
"You're 10 times the monster I would ever be".
"You sure about that?" he casually stated before hanging up. I stood there for a while with confusion running through my head. I'm no different than I was before I became a vampire. I'm still the same Corrine, just stronger and faster. There's no way in hell that I could ever become anything even a tad bit similar to Emilio. He's a blood thirsty, self absorbed ass hole that thinks the world revolves around him. We're definitely opposites.
