I'm so sick of the smell. Deceased frogs, eyeballs, organs and if I have to drink one more of those foul smelling drinks, I'm going to throw up! We've been here for two days and I really want to go home, but the leader is constantly checking up on me so I have no time to sneak away.
"Valery! Here's another one, I want you to drink it and tell me where you feel the tingling, ok," the witch lady, whose name I learned is April, comes in with a blue liquid inside a bowl.
"April I can't drink anymore of this stuff. Last time I almost bit into an eyeball, I don't want that to happen again! And it hasn't done anything since we started, all I've learned is that I can levitate stuff."
"Yes, I suppose you're right. Well then, we can try one more thing!" She exclaims, jumping up.
"What might that be?" I ask warily, inching closer to the door ready to bolt.
"We can go through one of the ancient spell books and see what are the most common powers!"
She goes to the bookshelf next to some strange looking thing inside a jar. She climbs up her ladder and takes out the biggest, dustiest book I've ever seen! She plops it onto the table and a cloud of dust goes straight into my nose. I sneeze a few times, my eyes watering. April opens the book to a page with a long list of words I can't read.
"What does this say?" I ask, pointing to the first word.
"It means power in Elvish. You'll have to ask David to help translate, my Elvish is a bit rusty. This book will give you information on all powers and how to activate it." She says while she starts clearing away her foul liquids and walks out the door leaving me alone.
I decide to go find David after a while of trying to decode some of the pictures. I gave up after I found a picture of a dog smiling! I wander down the steps and come to the actual library where David has been hanging out since we got here.
"Hi stranger, finally found a way to escape I see!" He laughed at his own joke and places a book mark between the pages.
"Ha Ha really funny." I roll my eyes. "April found another way for me to figure out what powers I might have without me drinking live creatures, but I need your help." I give him my best puppy eyes.
"Alright, what do you need me to do?"
Relieved, I jump up and grab his hand leading him back upstairs. "Soo, there's this book and it's written in Elvish but you're the only one who can decode it."
He laughs and stops for a moment. "Please don't tell me the book's name is 'Spells'! "
I nod at him a little confused and he laughs even harder. "I have the same book! You spend two days drinking who knows what when I was the answer to all your problems all along!!" He doubles over, tears streaming down his face.
"No! You have got to be kidding me." I sigh and rub the bridge of my nose with my fore finger and thumb. "Well, since you have the book, can we please sit in the garden? This place is making me claustrophobic."
"Sure, let's go," he wipes a tear from his eye and leads the way down.

"So wait, if I channel my power into a circle.. I can do what again?" I ask after not listening.
"You can open a portal. Then when you're inside you just have to imagine where you're going and... boom there you are!" He replies enthusiastically.
I send all of my power into my finger and make a circle in the space in front of me. A small circle, about the size of a coin, appears and grows piece by piece for another few seconds and there! A portal. I jump into it and think of the space beside David.
"Whaa!!" I jump out next to him and scare him so much he falls of off the rock he was sitting on.
"Aggh! That's not funny, look at my pants. It's ruined! " he cries.
"Oh come on, it's not that bad. Well that makes five new powers!"
"Yes, yes we all know you are wonderful. Now let's see what you've learned so far." He says with a little eye roll.
"Teleporting, telekinesis, healing, invisibility and what was the other thing again?" I count everything on my fingers.
"Remembering? Oh wait... no no, you haven't learned that one yet," he says sarcastically.
I stick my tongue out at him and then remember. "Dreamwalking! Now I remember."
"I think you should go talk to the leader about what he wants, we have to leave tomorrow otherwise we won't make it to Finn in time." He says, suddenly serious.
I have been dreading this since I figured out my first skill. "Oh alright, but I don't think this is going to turn out very well.
I realize it's almost dark and that we don't have a lot of time to figure this out. Together we walk towards the castle and I feel a wave of fear suddenly go through me. One moment I was standing there next to David and the next I was seeing... a white light!
