Chapter 39

"Tell me father if I really came here to fulfill the prophecy, how come you're lunatic guards had to kidnap and torture me," I quirk my eyebrow, not understanding his logic.

He laughs, making me nervous.

"Oh yes about that. You were taking to long to find us, so we found you. Now to stop the prophecy..."

He turns his back on, walking towards Dacian. Ares's nails sharpen, pressing them against Dacian's stomach. I realize what he's going to do, so I start struggling. My mind is racing, trying to get a way to go to Dacian.

"No wait stop, what are you doing!!" I scream.

"I'm destroying your only link to kill me, that's what." His nail pierces Dacian's skin and he screams.

I struggle even more trying to get out, I succeed in freeing my legs. I kick them around trying to free my arms. Dante suddenly sags against the wall, perspiration coating his forehead.

"You beter hurry up, she's strong," Dante wheezes out.

Ares moves his finger, making a big hole in his stomach. Some of Dacian's guts spill out, while blood is trailing down his chin from his mouth. Then Ares takes out a knife and decapitate him.

"NOOOOO!!!" I scream in agony as a piece of my soul is taken with Dacian.

The hold on me releases and I sink to my knees. I cradle my head in my hands, wishing this isn't happening. Something snaps inside me and I can feel myself transform. My hands suddenly become ice cold. I look down at them, snow white. My fangs elongate and pain erupts through my back. I scream, falling onto all fours.

"That's not possible," Ares says quietly.

My left eye starts burning, while my right eye feels like I rubbed ice all over it. I rub at it until the pain fades.

"Ares how is she both, no supernatural has ever become both sides," Dante screams.

"What's happening?!" I moan as my head explodes with a rush of power.

"Your two sides are merging," Ares says in awe.

Suddenly, I can hear all thoughts from everyone in the room. Ares is wondering what tests he can do on me to see what's happening to my genes, while Dante is planning on how to take out Ares and me so that he can be the most powerful. Then...

I'm sorry I lied to you sweetheart.

My father's or rather, ex-father's voice resonates softly inside my head.

I don't know if you can hear me, hut I'm sorry. I wish I could explain what happened. I'm Dacian's, or was Dacian's father. I didn't mind having you around, you both looked so similar. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but listen to me. You have to kill them, they will only cause havoc on the world.

I glance at my ex-father and see the pain in his eyes. He nods at me and grabs Ares, who didn't realize he was so close to him, around the neck. I can hear the sizzling coming from Ares's neck where the iron touched. He whirls around ripping his throat out in one movement. My mind snaps and I go numb.

"You just made a horrible mistake," I whisper in a deadly voice.

Ares stares at me as a ball of energy builds inside me. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Dante inching towards me. I release the ball into the air with a scream. The energy kills Dante instantly, while only knocking Ares against the wall. I slowly get up, stalking past Dante's lifeless body towards my father. He looks up, blood staining the wall behind him. I can see that I injured him pretty badly, blood pouring from a hole in his chest and head.

"First you killed my friends, then my family...for what!!! All so you can be the strongest supernatural or something!!" I scream in his face.

Something catches my eye, I pick up the knife my father dropped when he went crashing into the wall. I step over is quivering body, raising it into the air.

" No please wait, you don't understand!" He says while holding his hands in front of his head.

"I don't need your pity excuses, you killed everyone I loved!!" I scream again.

I pull back my arm, ready to strike when suddenly the door explodes open. The whole building shakes and pieces of ceiling falls down. I step back from a large piece landing beside us. Then.... Martin rushes in, carrying David.

" Valery you can't kill him! You won't forgive yourself. Now come on we have to go before this whole place explodes." He makes eye contacts with me and his eyes widen.

I hesitate, but drop the knife and hurry towards Martin. I grab David's other arm, noticing that he looks deathly pale. A rough bandage made out if a piece of clothing is wrapped around his stomach. I can see the red stain, indicating that he needs a healer.

"Are you ok?" Martin asks me.

"Am I ok?! Are you ok? What happened after we left you?" I look over at him, noticing his slight limp.

We rush up the stairs, struggling to find the doorway.

"Oh nothing really. Dumb and dumber too they could lock is in another cell. No way was I gonna stay in there again. David basically used the last of his strength to knock one out while I took care of the other one. David passed out while we were running out the room." He shrugs like it's no big deal.

Martin finally finds the odd brick and presses on it. The door swings open and we rush through the library.

" Oh ok, why is the place gonna blow up? " I ask not wanting to talk about what happened to me.

" I found some explosives lock insides one of the rooms. So I placed them on various pillars. I think we have about two minutes to get out."

We run through the various rooms, reaching the main room. We reach the hallway when an explosion rocks the floor.

" We're gonna have to jump." He looks out the window towards the grass below.

" What! No we're to high up!" I panic trying to move away.

"We're gonna have to, the building is about to explode!" Martin opens the window wide enough for us to move through.

"You go through first then I'll try and drop David softly. I'll come through last," he says already angling David.

"Martin-" I begin to say.

"We don't have time for this! Go!" He shoves me toward the window.

I quickly climb through, bracing myself for the fall. I slide down the windowsill, closing my eyes. I brace for impact, but it never comes. I open my eyes to see my wings flapping, holding me in the air. I quickly land, not trusting myself to hold me in the air for much longer.

"Are you ready?!" Martin yells from the window.

"Ye-"

Another blast rocks the foundation. Martin loses his grip and Dvaid falls. I try catching him but he's to heavy and we fall to the ground. Another blast, closer, throws Martin out the window while he's climbing out.

"Noo!!" I scream and throw my hands up, releasing some of my powers.

Just before he crashes to the ground, my power hits him and he's held aloft. I look at him, stunned, trying to lower him to the ground. I lose control and he drops to the ground, hard.

"Sorry," I say scrambling out from underneath David.

"It's ok, come on."

He quickly gets up and grabs David. We move towards the gates when a huge blast explodes from behind us. Luckily we were far enough away and escape through the gate.
