"That's what this is all about?!" I say, defeated. "Why does everyone want to attack, experiment, threaten and kill me like I had something to do with deciding who the prophecy was about!" I glare at her a little but look away when I feel moisture gathering in my eyes.
"Wow, you're a mess!" Crystal relaxes and starts laughing.
"Gee thanks, I appreciate it. Well I'm of to the ca- somewhere. You are not welcome to join." I turn on my heal to start packing up my belongings.
"Oh come on Val. I've known her for a long time, she's harmless." Dacian tried to pleads.
"Harmless? I'll show YOU harmless!" Crystal grabs the ends of his arms but David throws her back with his magic.
"Valery is right. We can't trust her. But, Dacian, you can gladly stay if you so desperately want to believe her." David blinks his eyes rapidly at Dacian, smirking.
"Maybe I will. Maybe you're just jealous that I chose to defend her." Dacian puts his hands on his hips but goes to block me before I can leave.
"No Dacian, not jealous. Hurt." I push past him trying to control my tears. Sometimes when my emotions get out of hand I destroy things and I'm trying to avoid that.
"David are you coming?" I call back to him.
"Yea I'm coming." He looks back and gives a dejected Dacian a two finger salute.
We head towards the last place we left the elk - the river, grab a few fallen apples and store some water. We then head over the river towards the castle.
~~~°°°~~~
"Why do you think Dacian chose Crystal over you?" David asks suddenly.
" I -"
"I mean, you are his sister and yea he's known her longer, but twins are suppose to have a special bond, right?"
"Yea, but -"
"Oh but come on. I never would've left you in my beautiful and caring hands if I were him. He doesn't seem to have any trust regarding -"
"David! Will you stop rambling?" I laugh at the pink tinge creeping onto his cheeks. "I'm sure he has his reasons. But I'm guessing the main one is that he doesn't want to die." I shrug and look at my feet.
"You're probably right. By the way, I've been studying that book the witches gave you and I think I might have found something!" He beams at me.
"That's great! What did you find?!" I squeal a little bit.
"Well there's this potion that stops your heart for about three days and then brings you back to life. The only catch is that you lose your memory and your powers."
"That's... an interesting -"
"Who goes there?" Two guards step out of nowhere.
"Uhm, I'm Valery and this is-"
"Princess Valery! We've been expecting you. Please follow us."I give David a quizzical look.
They usher us towards a tree. I try moving to the side but the guard pushes me straight into the tree. I start to panic, but then I step into the most beautiful place I've ever seen! The sky is a soft shade of baby blue with clouds that look like cotton candy. The trees are so big that I wonder how old they are! The people walking nearby all look so different from anyone I've ever seen and I can't help but stare. Some of them just walk past like it's normal for people to come out of a wall, but others stop and stare.
Thankfully, David and the guards step through just as the people were starting to whisper.
"What is this place?" I ask David, noticing the amazed look in his eyes.
"Follow us, princess." One guard walks in front of us and the other behind us.
The journey to the castle is a lot further than I anticipated so I look a little closer at my surroundings. The town we walk through is small, but absolutely incredible! Every person seems to be doing some kind of chore, like washing linens, baking bread, washing windows, repairing furniture and we passed some small cottages exuding heat, where I assume the smiths are working. The cobblestone road is littered with small yellow flowers and trees grow everywhere. Some grow beside the road, some grow in the middle of the road and I even saw one going through someone's house!
We walk past all kinds of strange looking stores and some beautiful ones as well, until we finally came to the biggest gate I've ever seen! There's four or five guards standing inside and outside the gate. They're all holding long, spiky spears. They nod at the guards bringing us through, but give us strange looks.
I tighten my hand around David's arm. He mouths to me that everything will be alright. I highly doubt that but here we go. We step through the gate into the biggest garden. Everywhere you look you can see men working on the garden, maids rushing around doing who knows what and a few ladies walking through the beautiful paths. While some are sitting on blankets drinking something. I don't know where to look but I suddenly feel very conscious of how I look and smell. I - We haven't had a bath and change of clothes since the witches.
The guard at my back gently pushes me forward and we all walk towards the castle door. I feel very much like a prisoner, if I may add. We step into the voyeur, just as a couple, I assume, walks down the stairs. I was busy looking at my surroundings but when David stumbled I had to look who it was. A young woman walks faster down the steps like she's trying not to run. She has blue-purple hair so I must assume she's a wood nymph. She hurries towards David, throwing her arms around him.
"David, I can't believe it's you! I've searched everywhere for you." She let's go and cups his cheek with her small hand.
David looks as though he's in a daze. "You're real... this is real. I never stopped looking for you either.I never gave up!" He starts crying softly and hugs her more fiercely.
"I don't suppose you'll run into my arms like that?" I look away from them, meeting the eyes of my familiar stranger. I freeze and can't seem to look away from his captivating eyes.
"Hello my little flower."
