Valkyrie Demons

Chapter 1

Hii!! So this is my first ever book... I'm so excited! Anyway, there's probably going to be a whole lot of mistakes and stuff that doesn't sound right. I also might forget some details later in the book so please forgive me 🙈 Thank you for reading my book! I appreciated it ❤️

Something is chasing me. I'm running and running and suddenly I end up at the end of the forest. The darkness that surrounds me, starts choking me and I can't get away. "He's coming," something whispers."There's no escape!"

I've been having this same dream for the past 3 months and at this point I've given up hope for finding the meaning of the dream.

"Valery! it's time to wake up, you'll be late," Dacian yelled from downstairs.

As soon as he yelled I smelled bacon and pancakes. It's a tradition in our little apartment for Dacian to make breakfast and wake me up before work. I get up before Dacian comes upstairs and tries to drag me out of bed, he did that once mind you! I walk downstairs to the sound of Ed Sheeran blasting from our tv. Dacian was standing over the stove in nothing but his underwear, socks and an apron!

"Sometimes i wonder why you bother with exercising when you're just going to eat like you've got no limit," i tried yelling over the music.

"What! You want me to exercise like there's no limit?" I sigh and plop down at the table and wait for him to turn around.

The moment he turns around, all I can see are those piercing blue eyes with golden flecks surrounding the outside of his irises. Something I forgot to mention, Dacian is a valkyrie. He's hiding from his superiors because he failed to complete his mission. What's his mission you might ask? Well, he was suppose to kill the most wanted vampire demon in history. The vampire demon, that's me! He wasn't suppose to find me, but what can I say, he is the top tracking agent. He found me in an alley where we fought for a bit, me trying to get away, but the moment we looked into each others eyes it all went to hell. Somehow, we're siblings!

"Are you going to turn down the music, or should I?" I ask, slightly annoyed.

He went to turn off the music but stopped abruptly. "Cloak your scent right now and get in the cupboard!"

I was very confused at his sudden panic. Then, I sensed them. A group of valkyries were barreling down on our apartment and I needed to get away! I slipped into the cupboard trying to mask my scent at the same time. They landed outside our door just as I succeeded.

"Dacian, we know you're in there. Come out on your own and we'll leave here without making a mess," someone yelled from outside.

"Stay where you are and don't move or so help me I'll hunt you down after I get away," Dacian whispered to me.

I sat there for a while listening to a lot of yelling, although I couldn't make out what they were saying.

After a while everything went quiet, then suddenly the cupboard door was yanked open and i was pulled out by very strong hands.

"No wait! Stop,put me down! What the hell are you doing?"

I tried and failed to get a grip on this person to try and free myself.

"Valery, vampire demon, you are hereby sentenced to death for committing the most horrid crimes against your own kind."

I knew that voice, it belongs to my mentor, Astrid, who trained me before I went rogue. I slump in defeat and allow her to drag me outside. I look frantically from side to side trying to find Dacian.

" You won't find him, we were given strict orders to keep you separated until we enter the house of the Supreme Court," Astrid says close to my ear.

She drags me to a square shaped box designed to house vampires. I struggled again but my head started spinning. I look down and see the end of a needle sticking out of my side. I try to fight it but everything went dark and I knew no more.

I'm having the worst headache in the history of headaches. I'm sure i didn't go out with Dacian last night. We just watched some movies and ate ice cream. I tried opening my eyes, but they're so heavy! I tried a second time and a piercing white light blinded me. I squeeze my eyes shut and try to sense what was around me. I felt something burning and realized there were iron cuffs holding my hands secure against a cold surface. Because I am a vampire my blood repels iron and starts burning until every ounce of iron is removed. I also have a few unique powers, one of which I am trying to use to get out of here. I try to teleport to the side to get away from the iron, but something is preventing me from using my powers.

Next, I try communicating with Dacian but I sense someone nearing and quickly mask the fact that I'm awake.

"The blood results came back. Nothing, it's completely blank."

"That's not possible! She's a vampire, only valkyries, unicorns and wraiths can hide what they are."

"We have to consult the Supreme One before we continue."

I lie as still as I possibly can and wait for them to disappear from my senses. I open my eyes and again I'm blinded by the white light. It takes a minute for my eyes to adjust. I'm in a white room with some kind of window on the one side and a blue-ish purple door on the otherside.

Valery where are you?

Startled, I sit up and bump my head on the light above me.

Valery I'm serious, answer me! I know you're not dead otherwise I wouldn't be awake.

I try answering back but something is preventing me and after a while I feel something wet coming out of my ear. Blood! That's never happened before.

"She's awake! Hurry!"

I scramble to get out of the chair and start looking for something to defend myself with. I hear footsteps coming and quickly grab one of the trays where something sticky was  before. I wait beside the door, ready to hit anything that comes inside. The door opens and someone rushes in. I hit the person and bolt! I run and run and run. My lungs are starting to burn but I'm still waiting to see a window or some sun light.

He's coming!

I hear Dacian screaming inside my head. This feels very much like my dream and I really don't want to find out who He is. I run around a corner and, there! It looks like a door that leads outside. I crash through the door and all of a sudden my head feels more clear and I can finally communicate with Dacian again!

Dacian, where are you! I'm coming to get you.

I recognize the surrounding as the enchanting forest. It was designed to deter people from finding the Supreme Court.

Don't worry about me just keep going, I'll find a way out I promise. Just keep going and find Finn!

I feel a kind of mental push and suddenly I'm running again. Who on earth is Finn? Dacian must be delirious. I run through the forest and suddenly I'm at the end. I stand there while an ominous presence starts to creep up on me. Darkness starts to surround me and I panic! He won't catch me, he won't. I'm extremely tired but I use all of the strength I have left and run through the rest of the trees.

So this is the first chapter! It seems a bit rushed I know, I'm sorry. Let me know what you guys think!
