I finished making cookies in complete silence.
Once I put the cookies in a container I realize all I want is to go to bed.
I walk towards my room and hop into bed. Just as my eyes close I hear a knock on the door.
Can't this wait till tomorrow?
"Who is it?"
Mason's head appears inside my room.
"Can I come in?"
"Sure" I say closing my eyes again.
"What's up Mason?"
"I have one more question"
"Fine only one question"
"The baby that you ran out with, was that our kid?"
"Mason!" I hushed him as I sat up in my bed.
"So our kid is alive?"

"Mason I'm pregnant"
"We are!?" He asked excitedly. We have been trying for years but I have moved on.
"Mason I'm talking to someone else"
"Well whoever the guy is can go die in a hole. A baby Emma! A baby! That's why we didn't work out Emma"
If only you knew I went back to seeing Lance.
"Mason I need time"
"I'll give you as much time as you need"
"I know you will Mason"
"I love you Emma and I will always love you"
"I know. Um I have an appointment I have to go to today, but we will talk later"
"Ok"
I walk outside and pull out my phone.
"Dad I'm having a baby and I need you to take care of it."
"What about the kids father"
"The baby will be documented as dead. Mason can't be a father. I'm just learning what love is and I can't have a kid bringing me love. I can't be happy and I can't have love dad. Can you just take the kid?"
"Yes"

"I don't know what to say Mason"
"Say the truth"
"The truth is that I know she is my daughter but I don't know if you are the father."
"Why did you tell me she was dead?" Tears we're dropping down his face.
"Because I couldn't have a kid. They would make me feel happy and love and I can't have that in this life."
"Yes you can Emma!"
"Mason can you just go? Please Mason!" I begged.
"You already love her enough to protect her."
"And yet I handed her off and she ended up almost getting killed"
"It's not your fault Emma"
"Yes it is Mason" I said and left my room. I left Mason standing alone.
I have left Mason and my daughter alone. That's what I do though. I leave everyone I love alone.
